Massacre Time by Lucio Fulci - new R2 DVD
http://www.kochmedia.de/haendler/sho...DVM010157D.jsf
This is a new (as of 02/09) release of this classic western, with Englisch language track and apparently in good quality (have not checked the DVD out yet) It goes under the German title 'Django - Sein Gesangbuch war der Colt', which literally translates as 'Django - his Colt is his songbook'. As many are fans of Fulci and this movie hasn't yet been released on DVD (in good quality) i thought this would be of interest to all the fine people roaming this site

I'd love to see a quality release of it.Fulci was a very able ''jack of all trades'' director. He worked in many genres. His western work is pretty intriguing and not well enough known.

just seen this, the A/V quality is about 6/10
going from the evidence i have seen online (screenshots of other releases) this looks the best of the bunch but it is clear that extensive remastering hasn't taken place here but it is very decent, good at times the audio is quite clear, only the English track has at times quite a lot of background hiss (unfortunately there aren't English subs since the Frenc track is much clearer) and 1 character (a Chinese undertaker) has an inaudible dub for the moment, this seems to be the best release until a bigger company puts some hard work into it P.S. this isn't a true 'Koch Media' release (it's made by Black Hill Pictures), but they distribute it, so it's a good release all in all but it doesn't have their usual shine and finish to the product |

Just placed an order for the Wild East release. Said to be the best version around. That German release might be cut?

The German DVD is only distributed by KOCH.
I liked the film. It has some humor, some nasty killings and whipping. George Hilton's first real role and he shines. Franco Nero is a bit dull on the other hand. Probably as scripted. Recommended for both Fulci and S. Western fans. Last edited by Crystal Plumage; 09-08-2012 at 06:53 PM. |

I didn't even know Wild East released this, now under the title "The Brute and the Beast". I've always enjoyed the myriad of titles attached to these films. Wild East always does a fine job. I hope one day they get their hands on Bandidos. A favorite of mine, but the DVD I own couldn't possibly look any worse.
