I´ll be damned, this actually looks promising.

BUT, I saw some terrible CGI gore in there as well

It´s not too hard and expensive to just make a fake arm and chop the finger/hand of THAT instead of doing it with CGI. We´ve done it on a micro budget shortmovie we did a few years back, and we´re not even professionals. That shot with the ear being cut off also have a cartoony splash to it.
I hope the CGI FX in the trailer are in an early state, and that most of it will still be practical gore, as some of it was in the trailer.

Other than that, as I said, this looks like old school fun
