Anyone know if this will have both cuts of the film? I prefer the theatrical cut myself

Not sure as of yet. Here's hoping Warner gives the Dark Knight trilogy the same treatment as "The Exorcist" is receiving.

Excellent. I'm in!

I'm not a fan of digi books (the only way to get the theatrical cut in the US) so I'll wait for the price to drop then snap it up.

So all the premium version has to offer is an excerpt from Friedkin's book?

Probably gonna pass. Can't believe they're only including the inferior extended cut and the 2 new extras don't sound all that enticing after all the material I've seen on previous releases.

Well to me it's how my steps are when ever I consider buying the exorcist Blu-ray all over again:
1 Jesus I Need The Exorcist on Blu-ray
2 It's time to research before I buy
3 Oh that's to expensive
4 Oh that's hard to find
5 Well nevernind I don't want it
6 Repeat

I can tell that this isn't change any of that

Blatty's book, and it sounds like its actually newly added material, as opposed to text from the original book. This makes it even less appealing to me, since I'm not a huge fan of Blatty. I get the feeling that he was annoyed at how secular the adaptation of The Exorcist was, if that makes sense. Has anyone else read Legion, his sequel novel and basis of Exorcist III? It's terrible, and full of pointless digressions in which Kinderman waxes on and on (and on - seriously, they go on for pages sometimes) about religion, creating straw man arguments against any world view that isn't Christianity-based. It's insufferably preachy, and I suspect that if he's gone back and retooled his original text, it will be to make it more preachy as well. I hated the changes he pushed for in The Version You've Never Seen Before, and I don't hold out much hope that I would appreciate any retroactive adjustments he wants to make. And that's not even considering the fact that I find retroactive literary adjustments just as offensive as the George Lucas-style filmic variety.

The selling point to me is, are the new 4K scans that significant an upgrade over the existing blu-ray. If so, I'm in once it gets a little bit cheaper.

Let me get this straight: this will have both cuts plus the old special features and two new ones?

YES, please.
