Part 2 from 1986 is my favorite, more than the original even. Not a better movie, I do like it more though. It was one of the first movies I had when I was younger (probably too young to be watching stuff like this, ROTLD and Hamburger The Motion Picture - my early movie collection). I used to have a 6 ft Leatherface cardboard cut out my mom got from the video store when Part 2 came out on video.
I think it has the best looking Leatherface, every word out of Choptop's mouth is hysterical, Dennis Hopper is ridiculous, and that underground lair looks amazing. It's an amazingly entertaining movie in my opinion. While I'm here, some brief thoughts on the others: 3 - I don't remember much about this one, need to check it out again soon I think. 4 - This one sucks, but I do love movies that suck, so it's at least pretty entertaining 2003 - I like this one, though I haven't seen it since probably 2003. I think Jessica Biel's overall ridiculous hotness might've helped my enjoyment. 2006 - I didn't hate it,but I don't like it much, it's such a bummer. It's brutal, but I think a little too grim and mean spirited. Of course I haven't seen this since it came out either, so I might need to check it out again some time. 2013 - This one is dumb as shit, and they kinda wasted the carnival scene, but I really enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of bad slashers like Killer Workout or Fatal Pulse, so stuff like bad acting, stupid dialog or absurd plots don't bother me a bit.

![]() I did not count the 2003 or 2006 versions as I wouldn't call 'em follow ups but remakes. But from the original 3 sequels, I get the most entertainment from Next Generation. # 2 is too tonally off for me and # 3 is New Line's failed attempt at trying to turn Leatherface into a Jason or Freddy franchise. #4 is at least batshit crazy and knows it too. The much hated ending with Mr. Rothman and Illuminati is now quite reminiscent of movies like Martyrs and Cabin In The Woods. To me, Next Generation is like a Sleepaway Camp 2ish sequel to the original - part homage/all dark comedy. What shocks me is the venom that this sequel gets and that fans take it so seriously but then can love a floater like #3. I would rather be a ridiculous sequel that offers a good time than a sequel that takes itself seriously but isn't any fun. Last edited by deepred; 01-14-2013 at 11:51 PM. |

Part 3 is heaps of fun. Ken Foree steals the show and is more than enough reason for why this film doesn't suck.

Part 2 without hesitation. Dennis Hopper, man...end debate. And Stretch is hot as hell.
Part 3 is great too...I also enjoy TNG and The Beginning. I despise the Remake however. |

Has anyone actually watched TCM2 in a while? It's dialogue consists of noise; laughing, yelling and screaming with no real purpose. That alone pretty much ruins it. The other annoying thing is that scenes go on way too long making it boring. Scenes that come to mind are:
*The radio station with Chop-top and Leatherface. *The scene where Strech is hiding in the lair while pointless bickering is going on. *Heck, even the car chase scene at the start is longer than it needs to be. I agree though that Leatherface looks great in this one. His mask is one of the best in the series.

I agree with DeepRed. Two gets too much love from the fans and Four doesnt get enough. I always thought Two was too slapsticky to follow up the original. Four at least trys to be straight up fucked up.
But I really think, as bad as this sounds... the prequel to the remake might be my favorite. 1) The Original 2) The sequel thats only in my head 3) TCM - The Beginning 4) TCM 3 Leatherface 5) TCM 4 - The New Generation 6) TCM Remake 2003 7) TCM 2

Ditto! 2 was a let down because the original was so good and 3 was a newline cluster fuck.
After those disappointments, 4 felt like a breath of fresh air. Yeah, its a totally different feeling film its cheesy and fun. I don't think it was suppose to be anything more then that, and I respect that sort of honesty.

Speaking of TCM 2, I never noticed how fucking INCREDIBLE Caroline Williams's legs were in the movie, and god DAMN are they insanely nice. they even point that out in the commentary. hands down best legs i've ever seen on a woman!

The Jessica Biel one for me. It had the biggest uphill battle, trying to remake perfection, and delivered more than any of the others.
