I like the term. When you think of porn, you think of something that is excessive.

Porn - television shows, articles, photographs, etc., thought to create or satisfy an excessive desire for something, especially something luxurious: the irresistible appeal of food porn; an addiction to real-estate porn.

Torture porn to me perfectly connotes the idea of excessive torture with lots of blood. I am a big fan of horror movies, but I really don't care for movies where people are just tortured and murdered in gross ways. Some fans watch horror movies for the kills only and I think it is that narrow hunger that some of these horror films plan to fill. The horror is mainly built around the body being tortured.

If I call a movie, "toture porn" - for me, it is a diss to a certain kind of horror film. I guess how offensive it is to you depends on how much you like those kind of horror movies.

While there has been bloody movies since forever - I feel like a lot of them looked fake and that was part of the fun. Movies now make the gore so realistic that it's not very fun.

Personally, I would like for (mainstream) horror films to get smart and creative again. I am really tired of all the jump cut editing, over explanatory dialogue, or exposition that is so precise it sucks all the intrigie, wonder and mystery out of the movie, the boring characters you could care less about and excessive gore that is suppose to stand in for suspense.

I still have yet to see Texas Chainsaw because it's only showing in 3D so far. But, other than a few people on this board, I haven't heard anything positive.... And while I've enjoyed all the sequels (which are all pretty terrible in their own right) and even the remake and it's prequel (which were better than they had any right to be), my favourite is probably the most despised:

The Next Generation.

Yes, I said it. I can't help it, it's such a guilty pleasure that's sooooo bad it's good. Glad to see there are 4 others (so far) like me!

Yet another sequel has been announced, Texas Chainsaw 4, a followup to Texas Chainsaw 3D. Supposed to come out in 2014.

I voted for 2 but have love for 4

I'm a long-time fan of 2, in fact I think it's the perfect date movie. It has comedy, romance, bludgeonings, chainsaw dry humping, lots of Tom Savini gore FX... What more do you need for a snuggly night in?

But I really like how almost each movie in the series (that I've seen - 3D hasn't made it to these shores yet) has its own identity. The Beginning is a little too close to the remake, but otherwise all of the movies are so very different.

I think I like Leatherface the least because it's too obviously a calculated attempt at a slasher franchise builder, and the post-production woes left it with too damn many stupid continuity errors. It's always nice to see Ken Foree, William Butler and Kate Hodge though, and I think that Jeff Burr is a pretty good director (I'm probably one of the very few people to watch Pumpkinhead 2 multiple times). And yeah, I've seen the workprint.

I like The Next Generation quite a bit, especially when the guy in the limo shows up. Seems like Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard might have borrowed an idea or two from this for the overrated Cabin in the Woods.

I went for The Beginning, although I think the 2003 remake and that one are both excellent. Miles ahead of the 3D joke that just came out, which I found to be very disappointing. Leatherface was little more than a goofball in this movie. I also liked the original "Part 3" quite a bit, although even in its current unrated form on dvd there still feels like a lot is missing. Part 2 seems to be running away with the poll, but that one to me is just too much of a comedy. TNG is just an abomination.

I said 3D because it actually felt like a follow-up. The remake was a film that I liked less with each watch. TCM2 was fun but a different style of film. Part 3 was a decent film. 4 was hard to get through and the remake prequel was ok.

Part 2 - Awesome.
Part 3 - Fairly entertaining.
Next Generation - Total...fucking...SHIT! Are the 5 who voted for this on crack?
Remake - Dull, completely unnecessary. Ermey is the only thing good about it.
Beginning - Decent...Some nice gore/kills, but nothing terribly special.
3D - Haven't seen, and not exactly in a hurry to.

So, yeah....Vote goes to Part 2.
