Olive does lock some discs though. The Twilight's Last Gleaming Blu-ray is definitely locked to A.

I went ahead and pre-ordered the Ticks blu, I debated between Ticks and The Nest. Judging from their trailers and some comments, Ticks just seemed like a better blind buy. The Nest just didn't seem as interesting to me (and I wasn't about to spend $40 on 2 blind buys right now).

I did the blind buy on the Nest and it was a disappointment.

Does anyone have the 25th Ann. Cujo blu? If so, can you recommend it? (Cujo is one of my faves, def. up there as one of the best King screen adaptations, and a fun, scary film to boot.)

I have it, and would recommend it if you like the film. And it sounds more like tracking down that edition than the new Olive Blu-ray...which is missing a lot that was on the 25th Ann. Blu-ray.

What is it missing? I definitely need to upgrade this, the only thing I have that looks worse transfer wise is Punkinhead. I have the really crappy Artisan DVD.

The Olive Blu-ray only adds a newer audio commentary (mono) by the director, and that's the sole feature on the new Blu-ray. Here's another review of the new Cujo Blu-ray: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/58740/cujo/

Another Ticks Blu-ray review: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film4/blu-r...ks_blu-ray.htm
I received mine earlier today. I can also confirm that the disc is indeed region "A" locked.

I knew I’ve seen Ticks before, but I swear it was under a different title. I only remember because Carlton was in it getting attacked by insects. I remember watching it on the Sci-Fi (Sy-Fy) channel back in the day…it was a rainy day, I was waiting for it to stop so I could go out and skate. Killer Klowns was on and after that it was Ticks. I thought it was terrible back then, and my opinion on it pretty much stands today. I watched the BD yesterday, and holy shit, talk about early 90’s cast….Seth Green, Amy Dolenz, Rosalind Allen, Alfonso “Carlton” Ribeiro, Peter Scolari, Clint Howard, and some Rico Suave douche. Good god…people hate 80’s fashion…90’s ain’t much better. The only redeeming quality of the film was the great visual of the giant Tick busting out of Carlton. That and Amy Dolenz in a swimsuit.
Anybody else not fooled by Alfonso’s gangsta routine? Whenever he’d try and get all up in Seth Green’s grill acting all a foo’, I thought he’d stop mid-sentence and start doing the Carlton dance…Was anybody else waiting on that? ![]() I thought the transfer looked descent. Pretty good actually. It was entertaining. |

I think Ticks is a lot of fun. I don't think the makers were trying to turn the idea of giant ticks into a serious horror film. Watched the Blu-ray last week and thought it looked good. Gonna have to watch the commentary (with Tony Randel and Clint Howard) soon.
