Altough not horror, ever see "the boys next door" with charlie sheen?

Good movie. and had some brutal violence for its time. This movie could never been made today.. I use to watch on HBO around 88. it was filmed in 84. and had some cool scenes.. anyone else see this? man, I didnt see that ending coming!!!

I was considering streaming this off Netflix just yesterday. I decided on something else, but I may have to come back to it. Penelope Spheeris as director had me most interested. I enjoyed Suburbia.

it has a really cool opening credit sequence. Yes. do yourself a favor and check it out.. its worth it.

I bought this on a platinum disc corporation dvd a long time ago, I was a fan of the movie when it was a staple on cinemax.

I remember seeing it on Cinemax too...I actually can't remember much about it, but remember liking it.

This movie is a must-see, I highly recommend it. It's almost like Grand Theft Auto: The Movie...these two guys just drive around, beat people, cause havoc, and the end sequence takes place in a mall after dark! Really uncomfortable moments throughout...strong violence, some racially charged. The dynamic between the two guys is really disturbing and realistic...one instigates, one follows, and if the follower gets too big for his britches, even worse things happen. Very 80's, but also surprisingly gritty. Kind of a knockout movie, check it out.

Love this movie! The commentary on the AB DVD is worth a listen. Speaking of Spheeris...wish Dudes would get some kind of release.

Spheeris should have a box set her stuff is so good. I disagree that Boys Next Door couldn't be made today. It's pretty tame by modern standards.

I have the region 2, liked it alot and was happy with the version I had........until I heard there was one with a commentary

If you´re talking the region 2 UK, it has the commentary.
It´s a direct and official port of the Anchor Bay edition.

Good movie. I first saw in 1989. Finally got the DVD when it first came out. Good acting. The only thing about the film I have issue with is what's said about serial killers in the opening credits seems to go directly against what we see in the first few moments the main characters are on screen. They are not charismatic, boy next door types...Maxwell Caulfield looks ready to explode any moment and both boys are already socially labelled and avoided by everyone at school. They're branded bad guys/outcasts right at the start so their crime spree doesn't really come as much of a surprise to viewers.
Otherwise, terrific film.

wago, wow i never thought of that. good point. I am a big fan of this film since 1988, had it on tape and seen it a zillion times. Iam surprised most of the crazy ass teen shooters arent inspired by this movie. but i really dont think most people even heard of it..

May Boulevard Entertainment DVDs that were release about that time were direct ports of the Anchor Bay discs...
