Just finished watching Death Valley for the first time since it was on The Movie Channel decades ago and it was much better than I expected it to be. Very suspenseful. It would have been a shame had Shout gone with their original plan because the transfer on the blu ray is flawless, FAR better looking than Terror Train did and that one got a full collector's edition!

i'd never seen it before (or even heard of it), but was pleasantly surprised when i picked it up. its nothing revolutionary, but its very enjoyable for what it is, and the picture quality is quite good.

I watched the movie the first time recently. Liked it. Good performances and a fair bit of suspense. There were 2 things that stuck out though:
1. The ugly guy in the camper that made out with the hot chick. In today's world of models playing "normal people", this dude would never be seen on screen. 2. How stereotypical the fat babysitter was. She ate everything and the killer led her to danger with soda. I was dying! |

I just pulled up my order history, and I got it for $15.61 from DeepDiscount back in December. Best price I've seen for it.
Not the best price, but you can currently get it on DeepDiscount for $17.49 with a coupon code. 10% off orders of $50 or more ( FBSAVE131 ). Code ends tonight at midnight. But if you grab three Scream Factory titles, it's not a bad deal. I used it to grab Halloween 2 and Deadly Blessing, so now I've got all the Scream Factory releases so far except for The Island (which I'm skipping). |

Just watched the Blu-Ray, solid transfer with good audio and video.
The film really falls short of being a horror film for me though, perhaps suspense would be a more apt category. In spite of this I really enjoyed it, there were some good tense moments and the acting, especially on the part of Paul Le Mat and the kid in the lead role was quite competent. It was quite slow in parts, and there is little gore or T&A to speak of, but still a pretty effective thriller. Definitely would not fit in the slasher genre for me, despite having some of that genre's hallmarks. |
