James Wan's The Conjuring

For my money, James Wan has been one of the few main stream horror directors who brings atmosphere and story telling to all his films and It's been interesting to see him grow so much as director (Hard to believe this is the same guy who directed the first Saw film). So I'm truly excited to say I can't wait for his next film, which looks creepy as shit. Read below for the synopsis and the trailer!

Quote:
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, "The Conjuring" tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

I really liked Insidious and doubt that I will be disappointed with this new movie. Look forward to it.

Looks good - just hope that he keeps it simple and effective. I felt by the end of Insidious it became so over the top that it undermined the effectiveness of the first half of the film.

Not trying to derail this thread but before the Amityville and Harrisville haunting there was When the Lights Went Out! based on the Pontefract Poltergeist incident ("the most violent poltergeist haunting in Europe").
This UK movie was alright with nice, authentic 1970s setting.

That said I'm looking forward to The Conjuring.

Looks promising, even though Im getting a bit tired of this wave of "paranormal" movies.
I really liked Insidious, even though it had its cheesy moments.
I hope this one skips the cheese and stays dark and scary thoughout.

Just wish they would stop using that "Based on a true story" bullshit.
Its almost on every damn movie these days.

Over the weekend THE CONJURING director James Wan took part in a panel where he revealed to the audience that his latest spookfest was recently slapped with a rating by the MPAA and the news is good for genre fans as THE CONJURING scared up an R-rating for being "too scary" for PG-13 audiences.
Wan shared that he initially set out to make a PG-13 film, stating that his goal with the upcoming horror movie was to prove that filmmakers can deliver a terrifying cinematic experience with a PG-13 rating. Unfortunately for the director, but very fortunate for fans of R-rated horror, the MPAA has decided his flick is just a little too intense for some moviegoers.
