Scream Factory seems really bummed about it, but the general consensus of people on the several forums I visit seems negative against the new artwork anyways. It's not just here, most people don't seem to like the new covers.

The only one I've liked so far is the one for They Live. The Dude from Dude Designs does amazing work. Plus I thought that "Buy" sticker was an awesome addition.

I'm OK with them using the original poster art only. I can why Universal wants them to, they're sequels to an all time classic and new commissioned art wouldn't fit for them.

This isn't just petty bitching for the sake of bitching. We aren't asking Scream Factory to stop producing new art. What we ARE doing is being constructive and offering ways to make artwork better. Chiefly, stop using floating heads and simplify the designs.

Lighten up Francis. You keep up this aggressive attitude and you will get bounced right the fuck out of here. This is just some friendly advice for you.

And the original one-sheet for The Burning kicks ass btw

I thought when I first read it, it was gonna say that they couldn't get the rights to release them at all, or something like that. I could care less about that stupid artwork, the original was all I wanted anyway...

Hey now, dems fightin' words!

Anyways, I don't hate the artwork SF is generally using on these releases... but they are often too cluttered. Simplicity is sometimes better.

I appreciate what Scream factory is doing, but you can never go wrong with original theatrical cover art.

Hmmm. You better live it up while you can, because the hook is soon come - and you will be known as Francis until then. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Francis.

From DVDNewsFlash's Facebook (MST#K The Movie will have deleted scenes and the alternate ending!!!):

"
This comes from Daniel Griffith's FB page. For some reason FB wouldn't let me share it, so I had to cut and paste:

"EVERY YEAR HOLLYWOOD RELEASES HUNDREDS OF COLLECTOR EDITION BLU-RAYS. THIS IS ONE OF THEM.

NEW FROM SHOUT! FACTORY...

OK, looks like the mutant is out of the bag! This is what I have been working on during the past four weeks... the COLLECTOR'S EDITION of "MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE", complete with two separate 40 minute documentaries, and the newly-discovered DELETED SCENES/EXTENDED SCENES, which includes the alternate ending! Here's more details:

1-"MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOTION PICTURE ODYSSEY"- An all-new making of documentary featuring EXCLUSIVE interviews with the cast and crew, as well as RARE behind-the-scenes footage shot on the set of the film.

2-"THIS ISLAND EARTH: 2 1/2 YEARS IN THE MAKING!"-An all-new documentary exploring the making of the Universal-International sci-fi classic.

3-"DELETED SCENES"-which includes the removed sequences from the 'riffed' motion picture and the alternate ending.

All bonus materials are produced by BALLYHOO MOTION PICTURES.

I hope this is the edition fans have been waiting for! More news to come!""

I do have to agree that the original art for Prince of Darkness was pretty poor. I think 1987 was about the time when the art of movie posters began to go downhill. But that said I still give it preferential treatment. As far as Scream Factory covers go, the POD one is one of the best that they've done. I just think that it should have been better.

And The Burning? I never thought of it as the cover for a romance novel but now that it has been mentioned I can totally see it. I've never really gotten into the movie though. It's kind of dull and the title is lousy. Seriously, it sounds more like an educational film about jock itch than it does a slasher film.
