R. I. P. D. (2013)

A recently slain cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.

Stars Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. From the director of Red (2010)

Reminds me of Men in Black. Could be fun.

I feel the same way. But I'm not to crazy on the CGI in this film.

R.i.p.d.

Anyone else think this looks kind of awful? I love Jeff Bridges. I love James Hong. Ryan Reynolds isn't in a lot of stuff I've seen, but he's a funny dude with some good comedic timing. But holy cow, every single thing I've seen from this R.I.P.D. thing is leaving me completely cold. I've not gotten a single laugh out of any of the previews I've seen, I'm getting annoyed by Bridges who is pretty much just doing Rooster Cogburn again, and that Macklemore song is the most ill-fitting music they could've possibly found for the TV spots for this thing. It's like "Whoomp! The Addams Family" bad.

Maybe I'm a stupid asshole and this will be really good and tear up the box office, but I still think it looks really, really bad. Anyone here looking forward to this?

Edit: Crap, I had written R.I.P.D in the thread title, not sure how R.i.p.d. happened.

It does look pretty bad but I'm a Reynolds fan so I'll be seeing it.

Looks awful and I can't imagine it doing well at the box office.

I think it'll have a few laughs, but it is destined to fail miserably.

It really looks like an MIB ripoff, or at least the trailer does.

The James Hong alter-ego looks like it could be hilarious though.

Honestly, it looks terrible. I can't imagine myself watching it but I also wouldn't be surprised if it rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars.

It could go either way. I'll wait for DVD/Blu. Same as Lone Ranger, which I want to see as well.

I saw Lone Ranger last night....had a free ticket to use.

It was decent, but the Johnny Depp "Tonto" character and the influx of comedy were rather ridiculous. It's also just too long at 2+ hours, and while it had a ton of visual effects it's really difficult to see where they spent the $250 million. I am surprised that it's tanked so horribly at the box office though. And for a Disney film, it is surprisingly violent.
