None of those other titles are horror-related, but just about anything he filmed with or about Klaus Kinski is noteworthy. Aguirre: The Wrath of God , Woyzeck, Nosferatu the Vampyre, Fitzcarraldo, Cobra Verde and My Best Fiend - Klaus Kinski.

Whoa. I didn't realize Herzog did anything that close to mainstream anymore. Mind = Blown.

^ Hopefully they're taking a second crack at the transfers, though I highly doubt it.

I'm surprised by the Herzog announcement, I was sure Criterion would have gone for the throat on those properties. It may have been an all or nothing proposition and Criterion may not have wanted every last one of them though.

I am worried however 'cause Shout Factory doesn't do their own lab work, so whatever materials they get is what's getting put out there. And the European Blu-ray transfers out there so far for Herzog are pretty bad. My only hope is that those European distributors were ruining already good transfers.

That's terrific news. Too bad they couldn't get Hooper to do one for Eye, but still much more than expected. I am curious about the aspect ratio. It was shot for cable, right? So I'm assuming it will be 1.33:1, but something makes me think it'll be formatted for widescreen sets.

Yes...new Carpenter interview!

Surprised they didn't get Hamill for an interview or something.

I was on the fence over both the Amityville and Vincent Price box sets. I already own all the films in each set, and at about $50 each, they're expensive enough for me to really think long and hard about whether I'll buy them. At this point I'm trying to be smarter about my spending, so upgrading DVDs to BDs is something I've almost put a complete stop to. To be honest, I was kind of looking for reasons to not buy them. The underwhelming supplements on the Amityville set did that for me - I cancelled my pre-order. This Vincent Price set looks fantastic, though. Look at all those new supplements! Documentaries and commentaries galore. God damn, I'm a sucker for a commentary on a classic film. There's no way I can pass this set up now.

...shit.

I was happy with the supplements on The Amityville Collection (all those new supplements on part II basically make it a collector's edition), but this announcement blows that set out of the water. There are still features missing on the Vincent Price set from the previous MGM DVD collection bonus disc and the House of Usher and Witchfinder General UK Blu releases, but there are also many new things to make up for it.
