Wow. I have yet to see this one and now I'm scared I won't like it--which may be just the thing to make me enjoy it, lowered expectations and all.

I liked this one quite a bit. It's not very scary, nor is it very gory, but something about it is really interesting. Everyone in the movie looks like a regular person which is a fresh change.

I fell asleep after 30 minutes of this last night. Not that I thought it was bad or anything, I just suddenly got really, really tired. And I usually never fall asleep while watching something.

I'm gonna make a 2nd attempt later tonight.

Although I saw this on TV in the very early '80's...I loved it! I was buying it all the way. Loved that ending. I can see this playing here in San Francisco for a few nights at the revival theater.

Fell asleep on this twice-two nights in a row-when I actually made it through I liked it quite a bit.

Hehe, I guess the same thing is happening to us. I continued with it again last night but fell asleep again. I think there's about 15 minutes left, or something like that ... I'll have to finish it for good today or tonight!

EDIT: And now I've finally finished it.

It didn't blow me away upon first viewing (a first viewing that was divided into three parts ...), but I clearly see this as a potential love affair for the future. Zohra Lampert was amazing. I kept trying to imagine a more "standard" Hollywood actress in the same part and realized just how bland and uninteresting most performers working today are. Lampert really gave this role all she had - in a way, she's this film's solid foundation.

Unfortunately, I wasn't really creeped out or anything. But I did enjoy myself a bit. I'm fairly certain I'll like it more 2nd time around.

I already bought the Paramount DVD way back when, but I was poking around Warner Archive and noticed they are currently releasing this.

So looks like it's back in print, although as a DVD-R. Also means no chance of sub-licensing (Scream Factory, etc).

Yeah, Warner are now re-releasing quite a few OOP Paramount DVD's as DVD-R only Archive releases.

Warner seems to be ramping up production of Archive titles on Blu-ray so there's a chance, however small, that this might make the leap. I'd say why bother with DVD - they should make this a straight-to-BD release.

I don't remember being too impressed with this the first time I watched it, but I will have to give it another shot this year. I think watching it with a bunch of friends and beers was probably not the best choice for this type of film. I think I will appreciate it more on second viewing.

I think I might pick this up if I see it at my local Movie Trading Company, I've never seen it before!

Is it worth picking up?
