Also forgot to mention (and I'm surprised no one else has mentioned) The Funhouse. Gorgeous film!

yes The Funhouse is a very good looking movie, a little too much build -up but I always love that monster... and the colorful carnival..

I think The Funhouse is quite perfectly paced, actually. The whole movie has this eerie vibe to it and it just builds and builds. The scene with the fortune teller and the monster is quite disturbing.

Not slashers, but The Shining and Sleepy Hollow are quite stunning.

For a slasher, American Psycho is pretty good.

No mention of Hell Night yet? Geez, you guys are slipping. Hell Night has great shots of the mansion and grounds, and all the interior shots have to appear to be candlelit. There's one scene where a window flies open and blows out all the candles, and Linda Blair is just bathed in blue light. Add in the costume (and cleavage...don't forget the cleavage), and it totals up to be one visually gorgeous horror film

I agree with this one totally. And I'm only judging it by the VHS I've seen...thanks for reminding me that I need to track down a better copy of this. Most people seem to trash it, but I think it's one of the best backwoods slashers and from a director that went on to big things.

Not sure if Out of the Dark is considered a pure slasher, but to me it is...and gorgeously lit, almost giallo in that aspect.
