Official Found Footage Movie Thread

Watched any found footage lately? Report your sightings here.

Just done watching The Black Water Vampire (2014) and experienced major deja-vus. It's basically The Blair Witch Project with a little The Last Exorcism thrown in for whatever reason. The lack of originality made this a tough watch however, the ending was a hoot so I was mildly entertained. I'll rate this 2.5/5

About a week ago, I revisited My Little Eye. Hadn't seen it since back when it was released.

So refreshing to watch a "found-footage" film that isn't just an excuse to be cheap. They were really creative and playful with the camera angles here. The movie definitely got under my skin, but I was watching it alone in the middle of the night during a snowstorm. The atmosphere pretty much matched the screen.

I had forgotten that Bradley Cooper was in this, but last time I saw it was probably before he was famous.

Both films were released on Blu-Ray in Canada, separately and in a box set. The standalaone for [rec] and the box set appear to be OOP, but the standalone for [rec] 2 appears to be available still.

From the director of The Devil Inside (2012) comes Wer (2013).

This appears to be another found footage type of movie. Here's the Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXxYZ4VsOV0

No U.S. release date yet.

The best found footage I've seen is by far and without a doubt the WNUF Halloween Special. It's distributed by Camp Motion Pictures and I'm pretty sure it's an exclusive to alternativecinema.com. The attention to detail in this thing is staggering. If you didn't know better, you'd swear it is exactly what it says it is. It's best to just go into it knowing as little as possible about it and just enjoy. This is the way found footage should be done. I can't recommend this one enough.

Dean Alioto made a couple of alien found footage movies:

UFO Abduction
Alien Abduction

UFO Abduction became rather notorious for awhile since it was shown at a UFO convention and declared by a General there as real.

I've only seen UFO Abduction, a long time ago, and it was rather good. Apparently the master tape for this is lost. I'd like to see his remake, the follow up Alien Abduction.

I remember seeing that on YouTube years ago. It was actually kind of creepy. I think the first one was much better than the second. The second one is still on YouTube, but the first one is nowhere to be found. Anyone know where to see the original one? I'd love to have a copy of that.

This was a surprisingly awesome film. It starts off as a drama, and progressively gets stranger and stranger with found footage playing an integral role. It reminded me somewhat of a mix between Sinister and Enter Nowhere.

Chris LaMartina wrote/directed it, and all of his other films have been great.

I still need to check this one out though, so thanks for the reminder!

I've seen nothing but glowing reviews for this all over the net, which surprised me. I watched it on NetFlix last fall and it bored me to tears.

I watched the recently released A Night In The Woods last night, a tedious Blair Witch rip-off. 75 minutes of three people running around the woods. No plot, no scares, nothing. An absolute chore to sit through.
