Burt Brinckerhoff's DOGS (1976) from Scorpion Releasing 3/11/14

Hope you had your rabies shots -- Scorpion Releasing is breaking Burt Brinckerhoff's DOGS (1976) out of the Pound! Nature goes nuts in a small California town when some government sanctioned "particle experiments" inadvertently turn the burgh's mangy mutts into a primeval pack of carnivorous canines. No one is safe after the exposed pooches stage a revolt at the local Kennel Club's annual competition -- Best in Show, indeed! As the homicidal hound horde lays siege to the college library, can an alcoholic biologist and a balding college professor figure out a way to stop the ferocious furballs? Another ridiculous Animals Attack outing from the '70s with a hilariously bloodthirsty climax, DOGS is exactly the type of film it needs to be -- and that's a good thing. "Man's best friend. Until Now."

Blu-Ray Preorder (3/11/14) now live - direct link at Cinema Arcana's Upcoming Releases list!

Very underrated movie and quite creepy at times.

I guess Scorpion aren't sending out Blu-rays to be reviewed? Seems like the reviews thus far are only for the DVD.

I watched the blu-ray last weekend and the film actually played out even better than I remembered -- I'm surprised there hasn't been more enthusiasm about this release. (Not just on this board, but a few others I post at, too.) It's an unassuming little romp that hits with a few surprises and contains a nice, small town "Let's make a movie!" feel. I honestly now hold it up alongside titles like KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS and GRIZZLY as my favorite nature-goes-nuts outings.

I had never heard of this movie until I saw Scorpion releasing it and decided to pick it up because I liked the cover. Checked it out the other week and thought that the movie was a lot of fun. Also liked the scenes where you could hear the dogs howling from a distance, the sound effects seemed kind of fake to me but at the same time, they were creepy and effective. Pretty glad I picked this one up.

DVD Beaver on DOGS. He didn't like it as much as I did. But he doesn't like anything unless Criterion puts it out. At least there's some good screenshots.
