Wesley Willis was the best comedic songwriter ever.

Suck a woolly mammoth's dick with Miracle Whip!

This is sure to be unpopular.
I just saw The Stepfather remake and it wasn't too bad as far as remakes go.

The original Stepfather is not a good movie.

It's too over-the-top to be scary, it's outright (no borderline here) abusive to the mother as a character, treats nearly every character except for the killer as an idiot, without a good reason, has no sense of subversion, no understanding of nuance, and no idea why treating their fatherly killer (whose main function is to leave subtle clues throughout the running time that he's not right in the head) like Freddy Krueger might be a bad idea.

Probably unpopular that I pretty much always prefer the origin or original movies story in super hero movies compared to the sequels

Batman Begins > the 2 sequels
Spiderman > the two sequels
X-Men > the sequels
Iron Man >the sequels
Batman 89 > the sequels
Thor > Thor 2
Cap Amer > Cap Amer 2
Blade > sequels
etc etc etc etc etc

Can't remember who here was having that little argument over Hobo with a Shotgun, but I took it upon myself to see it yesterday and now the suspense over who was right and who was wrong can finally end:

It's good. Real good.

I agree except where bolded. Italics mean I haven't seen part 2 so I can't say either way.
I just love the last 2 Dark Knight flicks and find myself watching them more than Begins.
X-Men 2 and First Class both were far better than the first of that series IMO.
I'm torn on Spider-Man as I really like 2, but am not sure that makes it a better movie. These are about even with me, but 3 was a disaster!

Batman Begins couldn't be any more profoundly atrocious if it had tried.

I would probably argue for Blade 2 being superior to the 1st one. More interesting villains, great visual style and imagination, and better fights. Bringing Kristofferson back was silly, but at least they dealt with it quickly and moved on.

I like comic books, but the current crop of super hero movies absolutely suck.

First kvass is not a sequel , it's a true origin film and the best of the series. I prefer x mento x2 though easy

Batman Begins is better than the hairdresser's Batman films, but is still excruciatingly formulaic. At the time it was passible because until then the bar was set so low, but in hindsight after the following two it's very lacking in every department. The best thing about the film is Scarecrow and he wasn't in it nearly enough.

I dislike the first 3 X-Men films along with the Sam Raimi Spiderfilms, mainly because they look too "glossy", but I also dislike the casts. First Class and The Amazing Spiderman were huge steps in the correct direction.

Wait a second. Batman Begins is atrocious and Hobo With A Shotgun is really good? You have some explaining to do.

Dude... are you saying Batman Begins is a horror film in superhero drag?

Because that's what Hobo is.

Baggio, you remember the link to that Video Review I posted? You said you watched it, and you hated it. Remember?

I agree with that guy.

Batman 1989 is the best Batman film.

You might prefer the aesthetic and tone and complete lack of depth, quality characterization, and the terrible action scenes in Nolan's films but that's your preference. All anyone can say is that, on paper, Nolan's films are truer to their sources. Though- film is going to change a lot in the adaptation process.

Batman is the kind of film that needs to be tied to the time in which it's made rather than another world, another time and place, for the purposes of escapism. Burton's film hooked right into the culture we lived in, the superficiality, the apathy, the largely untapped interest the moviegoing public had in seeing something gothic-gritty and grotesque made out of the consumerist landscape of American excess, and I find it to be one of the most telling films of what the 1980's was like in that regard.

Nolan's films fail to do the same pretty much because Spielberg was tackling the important issues in his War of the Worlds remake.

Like I've probably said here previously- I take the fuckin' Schumacher films over Nolan's shit any day of the week. (And I did think Memento was a decent flick. Overrated but decent.)
