John Milius' RED DAWN (1984) from MGM 10/9

Just in time for the ill-advised remake, MGM are issuing a hi-def upgrade of John Milius' original Russkies-invade-America classic, RED DAWN (1984). Watch as a group of teens defend their home turf from the Commies!

Great news! I hope it carries over all of the extras from the 2-disc DVD.

I'm also glad the remake is finally coming out. Some of it was filmed in Pontiac, MI, not too far from where I live. Hopefully the new Blu-ray will come with a ticket.

I live in SE Mi. too, but the only way I'll see the remake in theaters is if the original blu comes with a ticket. Not just a ticket, but a full price ticket! If it's $5 off, I'll probably still pass on the remake as I feel it's the worst idea in a long time. I will check out the remake from the library, but won't pay for it.

Actually, after posting this, I watched a trailer of the remake and think it looks like it could be decent, haha:

this was the very first PG-13 rating movie.. came out in august of 84. seen it in theater, liked it at 11 years old, but seen it recently on cable. and didn't hold up well over the years.. Now there was a scene in the movie that was cut prior to its relelase where the soilders raid a mcdonalds, but it was cut because weeks before that. some wacko in cali went into a san digeo mcdonalds and shot a ton of people and he was killed by a sharp shooter.. It was big news in summer of 84... also, everyone think the temple of doom was the first PG-13 rated movie. it wasnt.. but that movie did inspire the pg-13 rating further...
