A solid recent UK release is 88 Film's Puppet Master Blu-ray. Lossless and uncompressed audio choices, high bit-rate encode, booklet, reversible coverart, and region-free.
I (finally!) bought a region free BD/DVD player (Seiki bd660), and these are exactly the kind of lists I was looking for! If anyone else has any other recomendations of non-region 1 or PAL dvds or non-region A BDs, I'd really appreciate them! I feel like a whole other world has been opened up to me here! why the hell did i wait so long?

All dvd unless noted:

Return of the Living Dead 3 from the UK is uncut, US disc is cut.

Shocker UK has a Wes Craven commentary track that almost makes me like the movie. Worth a cheap used disc for the comm. alone.

One Million Years B.C. UK is uncut international version, US is cut.

Killing Zoe has a director's cut in France, I think it has a blu there also, but there are no French subs on the dvd, making the French spoken parts hard for me to remember or understand. It's also a stacked SE.

According to IMDb One Million Years BC runs 9mins longer on the UK prints. I know its region B but my steelbook of Shogun Assassin is a prized Blu in my collection. Not sure if its still available though and similar in content to the region Animeigo release but it is a good steelbook if your into that sort of thing.

thanks a lot, demoni. i'll have to look into those. i'm definitely going to grab that amityville 3-D SE. And I'm curious about the House box set. I've never seen III and IV. are they any good?

as far as non-horror stuff goes, i'm interested in that too. i'd appreciate hearing about any significant film that has a superior non-north american version.

Thanks demoni. I wasn't aware the UK "Diary of the Dead" Limited Steelbook had extras the U.S. DVD/Blu-ray do not. Ordered from Amazon.uk with shipping to the States for only $11.37! Not bad for a new 2-Disc limited and numbered Steelbook from across the pond!

No worries, my pleasure.
After all, you gave an excuse to rapidly browse some of my movies, with so many stuff, sometimes you actually forgot some items you already have...

And for your questions...

About the Amityville movies, I can also recomend the second one, that was released by the same company, Sanctuary Visual Entertainment, and is a real upgrade in comparison to the US version.

Amityville II: The Possession
- Audio Commentary with Kim Newman and Stephen Jones
- "Lost Souls" extended ending (in pictures)
- Photo Gallery
- 20-page full colour booklet with notes/interviews
- 5 collector's postcards.

Amityville 3-D
- 2D & 3D Versions
- Audio Commentary with Stephen Jones and Kim Newman
- Photo Gallery
- 2 pairs of 3-D anaglyph glasses
- 16 page booklet with notes/interviews
- 5 collectors lobby cards.

As far as the House movies, I really love the first three. The 4 one is weak. This collection by Anchor Bay has the same extras as the US version for the first two. The third movie is not cut but is the R-Rated version. The 4 movie is cut by a few seconds but as far as Iīm concerned the movies sucks ass in a bad way. Overall, Iīm very happy with this collection.

OK, so tomorrow, Iīll browse through the rest of my UK horror, my blus, and the non-horror stuff. Tomorrowīs list may have many Asian ones but Iīm a sucker for those.
