VCI is no better than Alpha Video, actually. Dark Night of the Scarecrow is their only high-quality title. There's always an issue with most of the DVDs they've released.

Hello, My name is Christopher Rowe. I am the PR Director for VCI. I would like to give you some information about the new release of DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW, to see if this will help with some of your questions.

1. The video on the new DVD will be progressive 24p - this was to address those who complained about the initial release.

2. The DVD version has continued to out sell the BD version by about 10 to 1, which indicates there is still a lot of potential fans of the movie that have not converted to BD. In order to reach those fans, that have not already purchased the initial version, we decided to make the new Collectors Edition with the extra bonus materials and the progressive video.

And in how many months will you plan to announce a new blu-ray colletor´s edition?

You should sell the new extra features on a bonus DVD for like $5 or something for those that already have the Blu Ray. Makes no sense to have to downgrade to DVD not to mention buying the movie twice to get all extra features.

Or sell a Blu Ray/ DVD combo pack, this would make the most sense. And offer a discount or something for those that already bought the flick before.

I think perhpas they meant they were re-releasing the DVD with the extra features that were included on the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray had bonus features that weren't included on the original DVD release.

Have you watched the extras on the blu-ray? It includes the commentary, plus well over an hour of video extras. It's pretty thorough. It looks like there is a new featurette this time, but I can't imagine it will add much to an already well-rounded package. If you have the blu-ray, you should be all set.

Yeah just one new featurette and the other doc. has been extended. You're right, probably not a big deal, but the completist in me wouldn't mind owning it.

Still weird though, never heard of a company doing a superior Bluray, and then coming out with a DVD a year ago with even more features then the Bluray.

Review of the new CE DVD:

http://www.rockshockpop.com/forums/c...r-s-Edition%29

It seems to be a direct port of the Blu-ray release. It doesn't contain an interview with the composer as originally stated.

Can someone please care to explain me what are the differences of the extra "Bubba Didn't Do It: 30 Years Of The Scarecrow"?

In the review, one of the screen grabs says this extras is a 2012 extended edition, bet in the review itself it has 31 minutes and 42 seconds, about the same exact time as the blu-ray.
