Just re-watched Shiver of the Vampires last night. One of the best looking movies ever. Amazing compositions.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Actually I got shiver of the vampires, the nude vampire, and lips of blood today. Can't wait to watch them.

Little update: I finished the movies and enjoyed them. I liked Lips of Blood and Shiver of the Vampire the most, but I felt that it felt more of a "horror" movie to me. Plus the vampire twins... that is such a cool image.

The Nude Vampire felt so very sixties/early sevenities to me. The psychadelic music, the crazy costumes, and it had this slight sci-fi element to it.

Did Rollin copycats appear? Did anyone attempt the seemingly erotic horror he did? Is Brigitte Lahaie in other French horror works not by Rollin?

Thanks for the help.
In regards to the 60s contemporaries: I would say that he is alone to some extent. But, you can certainly find a similar vibe in the works of Alain Robbe-Grillet and Roger Vadim. And, while I haven't seen any of his films, I am pretty sure that Jess Franco was working in France around the same time and I know that there is a lot of cross-over with fans.

I actually remembered I had a book, Necronomicon - the journal of Horror and Erotic Cinema, that had an article on Rollin.

It's called Fascination - Jean Rollin: Cinematic Poet and it's an interesting breakdown of Rollin's work. Basically they notice several surrealist and sadean themes.

It's a good article and helps put many of his films into context.

Well... as much context as you can put into a Rollin film.

I have no idea what Synapse has in store for Grapes of Death, or if they even still hold the rights to it. With a huge chunk of Rollin's film getting the HD treatment, it sure would be nice to have GOD as well.
They generally release these in sets of three. I see Two Orphan Vampires up there also released in August. Any idea what (if any) the third one is?

I have an excel file I made that covers all the feature length films in the book (including animated), sortable by year, English title, French title, director, and approximate genre/content. There's a bit over 600 listings.

The encyclopedia covers up to 2000 (if I remember correctly). I've been trying to keep updated with movies that have come out since then, but I've been slacking recently.

I can try to make that available here if anyone wants to see it.

Actually the first batch was five and the second batch was three. This is just two, although they are also releasing Renato's Polselli's spectacular BLACK MAGIC RITES one week prior.

I am trying to decide on if I should splurge on Nude Vampire now that I've secured all but from the first wave of blurays.

If you haven't seen it before, I would say DEFINITELY get it. If you have and are lukewarm on it, all I can say is it looks terrific.
