I would say ALUCARDA, hands down.
Looking forward to finally seeing ABBY very soon. |

I wouldn't consider Alucarda an Exorcist ripoff as it is based off a novella from the 1800's. Cash in maybe...but definitely not a rip off. Great flick.

Do you know which novella, because I have never heard that before? While I admit I hesitated before mentioning ALUCARDA, it is about exorcisms and possession, and was made directly in the wake of THE EXORCIST, time-wise. A lot of the EXORCIST cash-ins were not mere clones (THE NIGHT CHILD, for instance) which is why so many of them are boring. When you go off-model, you risk crashing and burning.

Just finished watching Magdalena: Possessed by the Devil. Limited to only 500 pressings and still Amazon can't sell out. I bought mine several months ago (#175 of 500). The only thing the film really has going for it is beautiful Dagmar Hedrich who doesn't mind taking all her clothes off several times during the movie. This is a poorly dubbed German film but the video quality wasn't too bad. It only lasts 79 minutes which is a good thing.

THE MANITOU is a fun variation on the formula, with a Native American spin.
