I'm very curious about the quality of the transfer. Hammer blu-ray's have had a troubled existence thus far.

...and hopefully Millennium Entertainment also gets a clue and goes with lossless audio this time around.

DVD Beaver on FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN. He seems unreasonably negative; I think the caps look pretty good! At least it's progressive, unlike the Australian import!

I've always liked the movie - in fact, I consider it superior to Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed. The caps look pretty good, but I did notice his comment about the change from 1.66:1 to 1.78. Why tamper with the aspect ratio?

Damn, no lossless audio again?!? I'll probably just wait for a R2 release then... or until it's much cheaper at least.

Even the R4 Blu-ray has uncompressed audio, and a far higher bit-rate.

I cancelled my amazon pre-order and ordered the Australian version instead. Audio and video are more important to me than extra features.

But the Aussie blu is 1080i, not 1080p, isn't it?

One poster on blu-ray.com states that the Australian is progressive rather than interlaced, but other sources state the opposite.

It includes many of the Features. The new "Hammer Glamour" Featurette, Commentary & Gallery are all included. I don't think it includes the Trailer though.

Looking at the back cover in the DVD Profiler database... it shows 1080p on it.

The first horror movie I ever watched and absolutely loved it as a little kid. Too bad about the lossy audio, but I'm still all over this!

Frankly, these Hammer transfers suck. Some are mediocre enough to pass but others are pretty bad. It also seems like the more attention Hammer pays to their big titles like Dracula, Frankenstein and The Devil Rides Out the more they fuck it up.

I think that's a big reason why Warner hasn't released anything yet although they reportedly are working in tandem with Hammer. After all Warner is going through the trouble to do 3D restorations of House of Wax and Dial M for Murder but haven't touched the corner stones of Hammer yet? TCM HD desperately needs some counter programming to the Universal Classics after all. The silence from Warner is deafening.
