Final Destination 2 - DVD Update

I'm not a big fan of the teen oriented slasher flicks that SCREAM inspired, such as URBAN LEGEND, IKWYDLS, and DISTURBING BEHAVIOR, but the original FINAL DESTINATION was a standout in my opinion, and I really loved it (I also enjoyed CHERRY FALLS and VALENTINE, so sue me).

Anyhow, I was obviously looking forward to the sequel, and I saw it last night. Here are my thoughts:

Hot damn, this movie was an absolute blast! This is a more than worthy sequel!

I thought some parts of the mythos were as clever as the first one, but other parts weren't, and were quite confusing. This did not detract from my enjoyment of the film though, and unoriginal or not, this film is a hell of a ride! I also don't see why its considered a bad thing to have some humor in there, as I quite liked it and thought it helped balance out the film.

The car pile up at the beginning was just spectacular! I was in awe at how frickin' well done it was. It was just amazing, and I know I'll watch it over and over again when I get the DVD.

The death scenes were indeed outstanding, and I was wondering how this got away with a R rating! The airbag and barbwire scenes are the standouts, although all are stellar. Really grotesque and well done deaths that put the first film's deaths to shame. Also, ya just gotta love that ending with the grill!

I loved this sequel, and sorry to the naysayers, but I'm giving it **** out of ***** simply for the pure fun as hell time I had with it, the excellent job with the crash and deaths, the loads of truly thrilling thrills that had my adrenaline pumping hard, and the overall achievement of what it set out to do! The film is definitely flawed, but I got past them and had a killer time!

I'm going next week and I can't wait. The reviews I've read stated that it's pure unadulterated gory fun. Sounds like my kind of night at the movies!

So it really does deliver on the gore? I had heard that it was pretty gory, but to hear it from you guys is more assuring. I'll check this out soon!

I was leery of seeing this, but maybe I should sneak into the theater and do a 2-for-1 today, seeing FD2 along with Darkness Falls. Its been so long since I've seen a horror film in theaters (last one was The Ring) that even though these two have the potential to suck, it could still make for a fun day at the movies.

i seen FD2 today and enjoyed it quite a bit. it's nice to see a mainstream film that doesn't hold back on the gore and violence (hell, it's the only R film at the theatres were i live!?!). I'm surprised a lot of it got by the MPAA! i'll never understand how they give out ratings. at any rate, i definately recommend the film! it was definately better than Darkness Falls.

poop

the first post in this thread sums it all up,
the first "final destination" is impressive, and this sequel is even better than that,
try to watch this film while it is still popular because its better with a full audience, people actually gasp and shit to the death scenes,
and yeah the first 10 minutes or so with the highway pile-up is fucking brilliant, the direction while these people are driving is amazing, the camera weaves in and out of all these different cars so that we see and recognize everyone later when they die,
the gore is second only to "blade ii," i figgered that movie got an R because most of the gore was not human gore, but monster gore, but this movie just obliterates human beings, its cool when people blow up

Alright, I just saw FD2 an hour ago and I have to say.... it impressed me. Keep in mind, the story WAS a bit on the lame side ("Look out for the pigeons!!) and the acting was (as usual) sub-par. But the gore? Awesome. This movie had some of the coolest death scenes I've watched in a while. My favorite was the cokeheads death. Its a movie that I'd even consider getting on DVD, even more so since you know NL will give it the Platinum treatment.

I was skeptic reading about the prospect of a sequel to FD, but ever since I saw the trailer I've really been excited. I haven't seen it yet, but I am really glad it is getting unanimously good reviews.

I saw it opening night. I laughed, I winced, I yelped and jumped. Best horror movie I've seen in theaters since, gee, this may be a stretch here but 1995's Lord of Illusions. I didn't see American Psycho in theaters, otherwise I would've said that.

On another forum someone refered to this as the modern day Evil Dead 2. I'd be hard pressed to disagree.

Rhett you need to see this flick. It is one of the best sequels in a long time for the horror genre. How about writing a review to the first dvd after you see this movie.
