Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man)- the best zombie film of all time IMO!

I absolutely adore this film, and if you ask me, this is the best zombie film of all time, and I absolutely treasure zombie films, so that says something! Everett is absolutely wonderful, and I think this film contains the coolest looking Grim Reaper in any film! The scenes with the Reaper are very creepy, and his voice and stare make the scene flow with unease. The zombies look magnificent as well (i.e. the motorcycle zombie), and the film's score is so very moody.

The film is hilarious, yet utterly thought provoking at the same time. The film is full of hidden meanings, a great metaphysical look at life and the existence of things outside our own existence, and lots of irony. What Soavi has created here is a fascinating work of pure horror art, and I think the film is nearly perfect! Definitely Soavi's masterpiece, and one of my all time favorites! What do you all think of this classic?

I second that. Although Return of the Living Dead will always be my favorite zombie movie(well movie period for me), this one is definitely in my top 2 or 3.

At the end of the day, I like my zombie films darker. This movie (which I own on DVD) is more like Carry On Zombies. It's okay, with some intelligence, but it's just not what I want from a zombie film. It really is to zombie films what Young Frankenstien is to Universal horror flicks. If that's your cup of tea, then you'll like it. I'm not a huge fan - this one is just okay.

I think Dellamorte Dellamore is one of the few really original horror films to come out in the past ten years. I found it very entertaining and I'd like to see more movies like this. Now, where's my R1 dvd?

I think Dellamorte Dellamore is groovy. Very cynical & dry, and some of the action is awesome. One of my favorite scenes is the reaper in the fire.
I don't really see it as a zombie movie - more like a social commentary. The zombies seem secondary to the politics in the script.
Awesome cinematography, & beautifully artistic too.

I thought I had seen everything that zombies movies could offer until I sat down to watch Dellamorte Dellamore. I was floored by how creative and unique this film turned out to be. It was visually beautiful to watch and yet creepy at the same time. The plot was so simple but the way it was scripted and film made it work perfectly. The ending was inspired! I loved this film!

You all make good points. I love this film, but I too, like my zombie films darker. It is by far, one of the most original and entertaining zombie films, and I love the music and the woman(her name slips me) is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. All in all, I just love this film. The first time I saw it, was cut on Bravo, then, I immediately tracked down a copy on vhs. Now, like the rest of you, I anxiously await a region 1 release.

It's a beautiful film indeed but not the best zombie film of all time; I don't even personally class it as a zombie film, even though it does includes zombies. I don't know, it just doesn't feel like a zombie film, it looks too good to be one. It's an intelligent black comedy/love story of the macabre. Wonderful acting, beautiful cinematograhpy and an intelligent plot mixed with superb acting and an interesting ending.

C'mon, where are the old school zombie purists shouting "Zombies cannot ride motorcycles!". There are usually one or two in every Dellemorte/Dellamore thread.

All I can say, is I was lucky enough to catch it in the limited US theatrical run, and I've been in love with it ever since. I knew Saovi was pretty good but had no idea he had that much abstract, wonderful surreal-ness in him. Too bad about his kid being sick and his self-imposed retirement from directing. He really had a lot of protential to breathe some life into horror.
