The Slayer

Does anyone know if this film is on DVD? I remember reading about it but I can't find it anywhere. I saw it a long time ago and I liked the atmosphere. What are your thoughts? Is this worth seeking out?

I believe I have this on an old original tape somewhere at home.

It came out as a double feature on a single tape, along with the movie "Scalps".

I have not seen it for year, but I vaguely remember it as being okay, and fairly bloody. For some reason I do not remember liking it as much as "Scalps".

This of course, is just me assuming that we are talking about the same movie.

Lucky 13 is supposedly working on the DVD but I've not heard anything on this in a while.

I used to have that Continental Double Feature tape.
Scalps was very bad but gory as hell. The Slayer had a cool creature and some nice, creepy atmosphere as I recall. A DVD of this flick would be appreciated.

I emailed Program Power(Lucky 13) about this a few weeks ago and never got a response. They're also supposed to be putting out Nightmares In A Damaged Brain.

Program Power

I e-mailed them late last year about those release.
Here's the answer i got:

Yes we are releasing "The Slayer" and "Nightmare". The "Nightmare" that we
are releasing was written and directed by Romano Scavolini starring Sharron
Smith and Kathleen Ferguson. We do not expect to have these titles until
summer of next year. As of yet, there is no exact date of the release, but I
will be sure to notify you as soon I learn of one.

Thanks,

Troy Groendyke

I talked to Jim Flocker, president of Program Power, about a month ago. He told me that NIGHTMARE will probably be out in April along with TEENAGERS BATTLE THE THING. He also told me they don't have the rights to HARD ROCK ZOMBIES (as reported on another site), and that THE REDEEMER and THE SLAYER are still a while away. I put him in touch with the writer of THE REDEEMER (who plans to include the original, much-changed script as a DVD-ROM supplement, complete with hand-written notes on it from the producer) and am sending him my one-sheet, box art and theatrical promo stills for the title.

I remember seeing the box art for The Slayer/Scalps double feature for years as a kid in Blockbuster, but for some reason I never rented the damn tape. I'd love to buy it though purely for the nostalgia and a good cheesy 80's flick.

SCALPs is coming to DVD in June from Retromedia. If you still want the tape after that I'd be more than willing to oblige.

It has been at least 8 years since I saw scalps but I remember that it was very boring and very bad. The Slayer was kinda cool though. Looking forward to that release.

Any movie that has someone impaled from the back with a pitchfork and have them come out through her nipples is fine by me.
