Raiders Of The Living Dead

Worth checking out? Just wondering about the cheese factor.
The disc has 3 (!) versions of the film plus lots of neat features.

I have only read reviews talking about how terrible it was.

Of course, I sometimes like terrible movies, if they are BAD enough!

I read some of those reviews but there must be some kind of cult following which would explain those 3 versions ... ?

It could just be one of those movies that is so bad that it is great.

Funny, but I do not know anyone who has ever seen it. Which to me is kind of a bad sign.

I am still waiting for someone around hear who has seen it to chime in on the subject.

I've seen it, but so very, very long ago that I can't remember anything specific about. The only thing I can remember is that I was incredibly disappointed with how unbelievably dull it was (which might explain why I can't remember any specifics from the movie.)

It's the same thing for me. It must've been so dull that I forgot most of the specifics. But, I'll tell you this, the whole 3-version DVD has got me curious again. Perhaps there's more to it on second viewing. I mean, from what I remember is that it's got all the potential to be a very, very bad "good" film: ridiculous FX, annoying child actor, a 80's "rock"-synth theme with a chorus that goes "Raaaiders, of the liiiving dead" (hm, wonder what version has that one?) and a corny plot with the army and a kid with a videoplayer-laser going 'round and shooting zombies (complete with laserbeam-graphics that makes it look like the frigging deathray).

Finally got around watching this and damn, I can't believe its been almost five years since my first post.
This one had potential at being cheesy good but the cheese somehow remained stalled. Which is a shame because lots of corny stuff is happening in this movie - yet half of it wasn't actually amusing.

One can do worse by renting this I guess, but I wouldn't go out of my way tracking this down either.

Will do. In about 5 years

The other two versions are more or less alternate, unfinished and/or early drafts/rough cuts of the movie with mixed quality and different titles. The main feature comes with audio commentary, but I have yet to check disc 2 though.

Dood, this movie was pretty bad. Had potential, but fell way short. The original movie is called Dying Day and is missing a bunch of audio and is of pretty crappy quality - only difference is the 2 flashbacks in the beginning of the movie that don't really explain much other than perhaps a certain bloodline is trying to be severed? The second movie, Dark Night, abandons that intro and seems to be very similar to Dying Day. I couldn't wathc enough to see any differences except the quality may have been abit better, but still missing lotsa sound.

After all that, the "final cut" called Raiders of the Living Dead seems to just insert some kid that looks like the actor from Richard Pryor's "The Toy" that makes a laser gun from his Grandpa's broken laserdisc player. The kid, his girlfriend and his grandpa get involved in the end killing the zombies (who don't eat anyone mind you). Terribly made up zombies - kinda like the ones from Zombie Lake. Grandpa dresses like Roy Rogers and kills a few with his bow and arrow.

So, essentially it seemed to me like the end product took out some mild gore kills in the end and replaced it with some lame ray gun kills - which do nothing but make the zombie fall to the ground. So lame.

I read some dood's review where he said he paid $50 for this DVD
