New player/new discs!

I just received my huge order from DiabolikDVD and can't wait to get home and try them out on my new Philips 724 DVD player...I fully expect some trouble with some of the PAL discs...I bought the player off the web from one of those sites where they modify the internal microchip so that discs from around the world will play on my NTSC TV, but the whole concept sounds too good to be true, hence my pessimism...here are some of the discs I bought:

DEAD AND BURIED (Dragon)
PRISON (Dragon)
THE PLAGUE DOGS (Anchor Bay)
VENOM (Force Video)
STAGEFRIGHT (EC Entertainment)
NIGHT OF THE INTRUDER (Dragon)
THE SORCERERS
FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL
THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT
WHO CAN KILL A CHILD?

Wish me luck...

Congrats on your purchases. Is there a good spot (website, forum discussion, etc.) that lists the PAL DVDs which are "must-haves" or not available in NTSC? Please let me know. Thanks.

RightOn! My player works! Tried a few of my PAL movies out this weekend just to see if they would load/play on my NTSC TV and they did! The only one I had a chance to watch all the way through was VENOM (1982)...the full-screen Region 4 disc from Force Video (Australia) looked great but the sound had some problems, it seemed to go mute for a split-second every five minutes or so, causing the picture to slow down a bit, but I can live with it...the movie itself has been reviewed as a boring camp classic but I like it and it DOES have Klaus Kinski and one of the greatest viewer-squirming moments in genre history when a black mamba snake pays a surprise visit up the pants leg of the late great Oliver Reed!

WKT, offhand I don't know if there's a site which lists what you're looking for...for me, it's been hit or miss so far...I'm finding movies I like on sites like DiabolikDVD and taking my chances. I have learned a lot though about anamorphic wide-screen, multi-region players, coding enhancement, etc., from the web. You can always go to any search engine, type in key phrases like "PAL and/or NTSC digital video discs" and see what pops up...there is a lot of generous advice out there...it pays to educate yourself.
