Any new news about Dead Reckoning, or the remakes of Dawn and Day for that matter?
Any of you guys got some new info on this, because I haven't heard anything in a LONG while.

Sometimes you need to reply to your own thread to get it started so let's see if it works.

As far as a new Dead movie goes, I'll believe it when I see it. It probably is the film that will never happen, how long has it been already? Then again, the same could've been said for Freddy vs. Jason just last year...

According to Savini, Romero is still in talks with studios over Reckoning. The problem is, over the years he has been jerked around by so many studios that he is very cynical when the offer him anything. Thus, the process taking forever.

I wish AB would produce the new Romero zombie flick since I think they'd give him the go-ahead to do whatever he wants with the film. I'm worried a big studio would cut it to hell and ruin it entirely. As far as the remakes of his classics go...... I couldnt give a shit less when or if they ever come out. I'm happy with the films as they are meant to be seen.

hopefully this delay will give romero time to re-think the script, in fact hopefully re-think the whole concept of the dead reckoning. i think he would have more luck if he reworked his resident evil script, it wouldnt be too hard to change it from a resident evil film into just a pretty cool zombie movie. which dead reckoning certainly wasnt looking like.

Here is some fighting words on the Dawn remake from the producer from Dark Horizons:
"George did a lot with a pedestrian mall in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, where the only real highlight was a hockey rink". Then they go on to say on the director: "Snyder has worked only in commercials and recently turned down helming duties on "S.W.A.T." because he wanted to make an R-rated film". Well, George Romero started in commercials I guess. |

"The new version will also put a "greater emphasis on action and a young cast" though its expected much of the social satire will be lost in the process."
The social satire really made Dawn stand out from the rest of the post-NOTLD zombie flicks. I really hope the director takes this into consideration when he is making this flick. |
