One odd note, I noticed on my many frequent trips to North Carolina, everything was "cola"... Even if you ordered an orange soda or something. Of course if you ordered an orange pop in NC at a McDonald's, it came out more like "and 1 large orange cole." (not a misspelling)
It's just so funny to me how different parts of the country say different things to mean the same exact thing. It always sounds so foreign if someone says "I'd like a pop please" or "Gimme a coke... what kind of coke? a Dr. Pepper!"

I'd forgotten all about the "cola" factor - btw, I've heard more people in NY say "cola" than I'd ever heard say "pop". I think it tends to be an older person sort of thing.

When back at home if we wanted an orange drink we would either say orange coke or orange drink Now that I'm in Virginia they mostly say soda On a side note what do people call that jiggly desert? Jello or gelatin? We always just called it Jello.

Over here, we call it jelly as in "jelly-fish."

Oh, we call it Jell-O.

I think it's maybe only the UK that calls it jelly. Perhaps other places in Europe, etc. I can't be too sure.

Jelly? That's what you put on your sandwich with peanut butter.

You know, I have to say that earlier posts seemed doubtful a SUSPIRIA remake could be in the works. However, having recently suscribed to VARIETY.com, I looked it up. Sure enough, at one point, SUSPIRIA was bought by a studio (Dimension, I think). This was last year and I'm hoping to God this never happens.

NO 'SUSPIRIA' REMAKE?

Quote:
Someone over at Bloody Disgusting had dinner with writer Steven Katz (SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE) recently. He revealed that it "probably will not happen at this point." Katz said he is having a difficult time coming up with a good "reason for the witches to be using a dance academy for their evil-doings." His version of the script has the academy as a recruiting and training ground for new witches.

Sorry. Not much more than that.

But, if you want my 2 cents (You might as well listen. I'm going to give it to you anyway.)... SUSPIRIA is really better off not being remade or re-invented. Its not that I'm against remakes as a whole. We've had a few decent ones. But Argento's original film is driven by it's atmosphere and mood. The color red being a major theme throughout. Sure, the film doesn't have much continuity to it. But it has an profound effect on me. The thrumming score from Goblin. The stark brutality and insanity of it is easy to get lost in. It's almost like a vivid painting that takes 98 minutes to look at. Any sense a new writer or director tries to make of a film that is driven by esthetics and not plot will most likely get lost in the translation.

And seriously, who's going to replace Jessica Harper? Sarah Michelle Gellar?

Is that not the most stupid thing you ever read? Or at the very last, a candidate for it? What hope is there that they'd get the rest of it right?

I'm happy to hear that this remake seems to be fizzling out.I don't want to see anybody elses "version" of a Dario Argento film. The indispensable ingredient of an Argento film is the man himself.
