KILLING SPREE--What the hell was I thinking??

Picked it up blind. Fuck what a mistake. No redeeming value whatsoever. It didn't even deliver on the red stuff it so desperately tries to sell you on the cover. Tim Ritter, feh!

Sorry to hear that.

I had read about this a couple of weeks ago, and thought that it sounded like a fun cheesey horror movie.

If it is as bad you say I am very glad that I have not run into it anywhere or I might have bought it.

Maybe you can sell it, or luck out and trade it for something that you might like.

IDK, I quite liked it myself. Pretty shitty, but I also enjoy Blood Cult and Boardinghouse.

No Red stuff, eh? So the hammer to the jaw or the electrocution-disemboweling deaths weren't gory?

At least it was done on film!! I worked on 2 of Ritter's later efforts, both shot on video. One, partly shot by myself. The writing is his films leaves a lot to be desired. As far as the red stuff, his later ones had a lot more, but the shot on video look is very distracting and makes a lot of the effects look fake.

Killing Spree rules! Tim Ritter is certainly not for everyone, and if I said Killing Spree was one of his best efforts that wouldn't help much I suppose.

You gotta love Asbestos Felt, with a name like that you can't go wrong.

As with any of the underground films, the worst aspect I have found by far is the scripts. If the writting were better so many of these movies would rise above their shortcummings and Tim Ritter is no exception. Often I find his films to be somewhat fun, but...

Well, I love these films anyways... but by far the best writter/director working in this field is Eric Stanze. He is brilliant, and his films show a true talent, gift and respect for himself as an artist and for his audiance. His weakest films still have strong scripts. Check out Ice From The Sun.... its fantastic!!!!

A small budget can be overshadowed by a great script, but the worst script can not be overshadowed by a big budget. A strong foundation must be laid... a great script is the key.

A agree with ya , a rented this awhile ago on VHS and what a dissappointment

I hate that overacted shot on video crap.even though this flick was shot on 16mm.

By far, his best effort, unfortunately, everything else has gone down hill from there. Tim had told me there was a lot more footage, but it was rotting in some lab, and he, or any investors, didn't want to spend the money to obtain it, so they could put out a director's cut, or at least a dvd with extra footage.

I have never seen it, but I have both the shot on video sequels, that Tim gave me. They are terrible!! Believe it or not, it took a court battle for him to get credit for Truth or Dare. He did a whole Fango article about it. Interesting story. I do need to watch the original sometime.

Cheeseball flix

Now look, I am all over some goofball low budget crapfests if they are either fun, campy or inspired in any way. Asbestos Felt is a great name for a lead, Killing Spree was supposed to be fun underground stuff. It just was a waste of time.
You guys have to keep an eye out for "Death Bed" coming soon to dvd. I saw this at a film festival and at that first screening someone from CULT EPICS or the director told the programmer that more people saw the film that night at that showing than had ever seen it since it was first made in the 70's. This was a great cheeseball, inept, zero budget glorious fun. See it with a group.
I couldn't believe the good reviews that Killing Spree got.
