Actually Nancy IS watching The Evil Dead during the scene where Glen climbs thru the window and says he'll stand guard over her as she falls alseep to search for Freddy.

Elm Street came out in November of 1984
Evil Dead came out in 1983

Both were released by New Line Cinema

Django: No one said that Evil Dead wasn't shown in NOES...just that Evil Dead II wasn't in NOES.

I got a couple of not-so good captures. Really the scenes happen too fast to get good shots. But, the ones I did get can be found at http://www.gate.net/~jsully/ed.html

The first is a head-shot of Ash on the TV screen, and the second is a shot of Nancy with Evil Dead on TV in the lower right quadrant. The pix are 800x450, and are 29k and 41k respectivly (For the d/l conscious).

Hope these good enough.

I heard that the band Skinny Puppy has a lot of Evil Dead things in their music.

Also in the Dead Hate the Living, they refer to the trilogy A LOT.

Skinny Puppy has a lot of horror-references in general.. They actually made a whole video consisting of nothing but scenes of voilence from horror-movies. Lots of Argento and Fulci stuff - can't remember if there was any Evil Dead stuff in there though!?

Thanks all that have replied. Just let you guys know I'm looking for specific references to Evil Dead. The necronomicon isn't unique to Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell appearing in other movies isn't either. Don't get me started on Duke Nukem. Anyway keep them coming. Thanks!

I know this doesn't really help much of any of you, but there is a ska band in my area called Skarmy of Darkness. They have some clips from Army of Darkness in a few of their songs that is on their CD.

Skinny Puppy has no reference involving
Evil Dead to my knowlede. lots of Argento and Fulci stuff. Industrial artist Leather Strip samples NOTLD '90 on a song (sorry Ash, just had to throw that it.) If Skinny Puppy does have reference to Evil Dead please submit the specifics.
Bava's Demons has a little Evil Dead feel to it.

Some of the 20-something croud may remember a popular 1990 song called "People Are Still Having Sex" by the band LaTour. It featured a sample of dialog from EDII the "Hello Lover" when Linda's head fell through the roof and bit on to Ash's hand.

Bruce Campbell's web site says something about Skinny Puppy having sampled Evil Dead 1 or 2. I don't know what song though. I do believe the metal band Diecide sampled them too
