Best Special Fx Shot In A Horror Film!

This just came to mind, I will post more as I think of them, but what is your favourite fx shot in a horror film? Something that really impresses you every time you see it? The one I can only think of at the moment is from BAD TASTE when Derek (Peter Jackson) falls down the cliff. That is most impressive seeing as how the film was really low budget and all. Name some of your favourites.

in Jason goes to Hell when he impales the chick thru the tent..

your saying to yourself "ok so he impaled her, big deal"

and then WHOOMP! He rips upward, thus splitting her!

My girlfriend had no problem w/ the impaling but screamed when he ripped through. Gotta love the unrated cut! Preesh New Line (and a big to Paramaount)

The first head blowing up in Scanners still holds up amazingly well...

the sleepaway camp effect that you mentioned blows my mind as well, I have no idea how they pulled that off.

Some of my favorites...

The famous gun shot to the head in The Beyond.

The splinter in the eye in Zombie.

And all the effects in Day of the Dead are awesome.

Yeah it looked REAL. I gasped when the body hit the ground.

I think the Thing has some of the most impressive effects.

The werewolf transformation scene in "An American Werewolf in London". Totally pre-dates CGI, all latex! I think that scene holds up as one of the greatest SFX shots, not just in horror, but any genre. Still amazes me to this day.

Agree with all of the above!

But would add John Cassavettes full body explosion in The Fury.

Almost as good as the fat guy who blows up in Street Trash!
