Day of the Triffids!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...527028-5077439

Does anyone know if the above release is any better than this one:

I have the latter - and it's beyond bad.

Well, we obviously know nothing about this release

So I bought it. Will watch it later this week. Honestly guys, do you know this film? A true classic. I'll let you know if the transfer is worth it!

I was wondering about the "Triffids" DVD myself some time ago:

Well - the first link I have above is a HUGE avoid. I'll take a quick look at the new one in a couple of days and I'll let you know.

You know what - the film is so great, I watched it TWICE through the psychodelic haze that is the first release listed....

I've never seen it, but I've always wanted to. So, let us know about the transfer.

Okay - I did not watch the entire film, just sampled it. I can safely say - Woo hoo! - at last a decent copy of this BRILLAINT film. Oh, it's not "reference" by any means - but it's easily watchable, witrh just some grain to bother us. Widescreen too. For less than $15, it's steal.

I have never seen the original version of this, but I do love the BBC TV remake of it. Anyone know if that version is out on DVD?

I'm a big fan of this movie and have been wanting a decent widescreen copy for a long time. Just so I'm clear, are you referring to the newer release with the yellow-ish cover? I had it in my hand the other day at a specialty shop and didn't get it because the cover has no information regarding the aspect ratio and I didn't want to pay $20 for a full-screen Triffids DVD. Thanks for the info! I was hoping we had some Triffid fans around here.

Click on the first link above (original post) to see the one I'm talking about. Widescreen is essential here - it's 1:2.35.

Classic classic film.

And an even better classic novel...this one's begging to be remade with state-of-the-art FX (but keep the CGI boys far away from it)!
