Worst Musical Score

One of the reason why horror films attract me so much is the music. There are so many musical scores that keep me glued to my T.V. screen (i.e. Suspiria, Psycho, Tenebre, The Omen, Blood & Black Lace & Deep Red....just to name a few). However some horror films have scores which make me want to cringe.
Some examples of awful film scores (IMO) are Argento's Inferno and Opera. Keith Emerson's music in Inferno is the most annoying thing I've ever heard. Such a shame because I do adore the film. I do like some of Opera's music, but playing heavy metal does not fit certain scenes in the film. I'm not against having heavy metal music played - in fact I think it fits Demons (Demoni) quite well. I think I have the same negative attitude towards the heavy metal music played in Argento's Phenomena as well.
Another film in which I feel the music is atrocious is Michele Soavi's Stagefright (and, again, I adore the film).

The score for the 30th Ann. of NOTLD is absolutely the worst piece of crap ever recorded. The tension that was heightened by the original score is completely washed out with the new one.

The music from H20 sucks so bad.It is a total Scream rip off, and they barely play the Halloween theme if even at all.

Yeah, gotta agree with you on that one.

I agree with that too. It seems as if all teeny bopper slasher films have the same musical score.

...er....that would be because some of it IS Beltrami's music from Scream. They used some of this after rejecting a good bit of John Ottman's score. Let's hear it for the 'siuts' that know better than their target audience!!!!

I so agree with you. Those two are by far the worst in my not so humble opinion. I especially am perplexed by the music in Opera, it makes what should be horrifying scenes of violence seem almost comic like. Ruined the whole movie for me.

No kidding , it WAS Marco Beltrami?

No seriously , I knew that, he did the Faculty too, and it all sounds the same.

I like Argento's movies. But Phenomena and Opera are ruined when Heavy Metal runs over the soundtrack during murders or whatnot. Opera would be so much better if nothing played during the murders. It would be unsettling if it was just complete silence, only the sound of the brutal act would suffice. That or that sad Claudio Simonetti operatic theme or something similar.

I also didn't like the heavy metal bits in the two aforementioned Argento flicks. But i will stand alone and say that I did like the music to the NOTLD: 30th Anniversary Edition. It wasn't great or anything, but far from the worst music I've ever heard...there were some definite creepy moments.

I love the Nightmare City score, I think it adds to the campy feel of the film. I like Opera's score, the heavy metal bits didn't bother me none. I will agree with the NOTLD score though, that was just bad.

I thought both of those soundtracks were good. esp. Zombi 3's.
