I hope not, I still haven't gotten around to buying it. It seems to be backordered in a few places, maybe it is? I should jump on a copy fast!

it's an image release isn;t it? I've had a few Image releases on order for ages, so I'm starting to think it's an issue with the company, rather than individual titles. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST three months and counting....

Erm, Kino is distributed by Image. Look in the upper left corner... it is Kino.

And where the hell did this dvd come from?? I've never seen it or even known about it before, and B&N has a release date of 6/22/1999? Bullshit! No way.

FYI, DDD has it for 16.18. Watts, I'd call them, they have pretty dang good customer service. They do take a long assed time to get the more obscure back catalog stuff, but from what I've experienced, they'll get it. Aren't you overseas too? Add that to the fact they're slow to begin with on these titles, and you may want to grab a Snickers.

Yeah - overseas right now

As I have said before, from order to delivery is weeks from DDD for me - and I have to PAY. This one is just hanging out there so was getting concerned. But if we've heard nothing about it going OOP, I'm probably in good shape.

Ooops, you're both right. Sorry, it is indeed Kino. And it has been out a long time. I remember first seeing it a few years ago, but was always put off by the price.

I believe the commentary track is taken from the LD release. Gloria Stuart's commentary is really great on this one. Its amazing that Universal "dumped" this one from their vaults. Its such a classic...creepy. The remake by William Castle doesn't hold a candle to this.

Trivia about The Old Dark House:

The father is played by Dudgeon, Elspeth, a female.

Due to legal reasons, this film has never been syndicated to television.

This film was not included in the "Shock Theatre" package with the other Universal horror films.

There was a period in which this was believed to be a lost film.

It's believed that all current prints were derived from a surviving 16mm print.

Well, DDD have taken this off their web site - and my "backorder" is just a blank entry. So I guess this one is capoot.
