SS Update

From GOREZONE.net
Quote:
On the 26th, they will release two edition of Lucio Fulci's ZOMBI (ZOMBIE 2). The first edition will only feature the film while the other edition will feature a second disc with interviews and loads of extras! Also out the same day will be the giallo, SLAUGHTER HOTEL. On September 30, Jess Franco's FACELESS will come out and the disc will feature the original English audio track and the trailer. Also out the same day will be THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBERG. On October 28 we can expect FLESH FROM THE BEAST, the first film produced by Media Blaster! And we will finally get a North American edition of 1990 BRONX WARRIORS!
Pretty cool, just wish they had some concrete extras for Zombi 2.

I just hope it's not a limited edition.I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.

I just read on another message board, which I shall not name, that Shriek Show has delayed their Zombi 2 DVD.

Anyone here have any dirt on this?

Yeah, another shot to the foot of Shriek Show. Their feet has to look like swiss-cheese by now!

Maybe they are repackaging the disks in a 2 in 1 standard size DVD case (Nekromantik 2 style). Its the least they could do especially when Tokyo Shock (their sister label) just released their Versus (SE) with the second DVD in a brown slip sleeve... Maybe the slip back (if its true) is only a week or two....lets hope.

SS seem to be playing the Anchor Bay game. Screwing up, and doing multiple versions. The thing that concerns me is that the 2 disk set, given that the cover artwork appears to be the same, will probably be in a stinking Digipack. Digipaks rarely make it through the post to me in one piece! What's wrong with either justd oing a 2 disk set, or as is probably possible, putting it all on one disk?

I could swear that Blue Underground's DEAD AND BURIED 2 disk set is 2 single layered disks. It's all just another way to pressure us.

FL - you'd be lucky if we got a digipack. BLOOD FEAST 2 and VERSUS both have the second disc in a paper CD case just thrown inside the keepcase. I think it's so that they can keep efficiency high and use just one case the whole time. And in BF2's case, the second discs extras amount to 25 minutes. The first disc has 1 audio track and 4 trailers. There's no possible way it couldn't have fit on there. My guess is they didn't want to go through the trouble of making different discs, but I don't know for sure.

I'd say DEAD & BURIED is definitely an exception though. It has 3 commentaries and 4 audio options. Audio tracks take up tons of space, so I wouldn't be surprised if they really couldn't fit the extras on there (even though they aren't that long anyway). Same deal as BAD TASTE I believe.

Just to let you guys know, as you know we release alot of titles and pretty much every month we release atleast 1-2 shriek show titles, we have found that this kind of release schedule works well for business and the industry. This type of schedule is good for anime.

After finishing Flesh for the Beast, I gave it alot of thought and came to the conclusion this release schedule does not work for cult titles in Shriek or Tokyo Shock that are loaded with extras and need more qa on uncut issues and ratio and such....so I decided to unannouce all the shriek show titles and now only announce the titles when they are done!!

Which means no delays, we know everything about the title and it is the best we can do as opposed to all the rushing and hoping it is good. So in conlusion we are still doing all these titles and they will be better but will not be every month unless we get them done that way.

Eh, at least we won't be on the edges of our seats anymore. I'd rather just not know than be stuck in suspense. ZOMBI 2 and SLAUGHTER HOTEL are still slated online at most retailers for that ominous 8/26 date, but I have little doubt at least one will be delayed at the 11th hour.
