Talking New german Evil Dead box picture

Looks ok, but many people who saw a prototype at a convention in "Neu Isenburg, Germany", complained about the cheap and easy to damage cover. I´m now really curious when my pre ordered copy arrives, people where told on that con that the official release will be in next 2 weeks.

That box looks really cool. Make sure to tell us what it is like when you finally get it. I hope the new AB release will look that good!

I think the AB version will also contain some pages as well! If it's anything like the Buffy Region 2 DVD "book" then it'll be worth the wait. (The book contains storage compartments for each DVD - ingenious stuff and damned fine looking to boot..)

I'm sorry - but I can't see getting that excited over DVD packaging alone... although the necronomicon cover IS way cool, I certainly wouldn't buy another copy of the DVD (well, actually, I have the "blood red" laserdisc, but you get my meaning) just for that.

I'm echoing my own sentiments from a previous post, but I wish Anchor Bay would stop rereleaseing DVDs that already have kick-ass special editions and focus on all the many, many great movies that still haven't got DVD releases at all.

That said, my friend has a phone book necronomicon slip-cover, which goes over the phone book to make it look like the book of the dead, which is very cool (yes, it's three-dimensional).

SWEEEEEET! I'll wait till Anchor Bay's latest version of Evil Dead. Hopefully AB can outdo that German company in terms of packaging.

I think if AB includes Within The Woods, and a new commentary with both Raimi and Campbell, then the disc will be well worth the purchase. A new documentary would be kick ass too!

I do think AB should focus on their unreleased titles first though, and then worry about SE's of existing titles. But I think they just want to get the whole Evil Dead series out the door so they don't have to worry about them in the future. And let's face it, a new SE of Evil Dead is sure to outsell almost any other SE film in AB's collection, so it is good for them from a economic standpoint.

Well Tom Sullivan the original creator and designer of the book for Evil Dead will be doing the Book of the Dead packaging for AB. So I think it will be better.

I´m also waiting for the new AB Evil Dead disc, but only to see "within the woods" and hear the new comentary. The packaging wills surely be better, because AB is a much bigger company then cmv laservision, and the us market is also huge compared to the german.

Át the moment i have talked to more people who saw the prototype, and they all said that it is a normal super jewel case, and only the front is designed like the necronomicon. I think that i will go MAD when this thing is not as cool as advertised. I waited over a year for this damn dvd and the only cool thing was the package, the transfer and extras are really not top of the line :-(

Hmmmm...I have Elite's Evil Dead DVD, and it's excellent. Bruce Campbell's commentary on this disc is the best I've ever heard, bar none. It would be nice to have one with Raimi and Campbell together, but I'll take what I can get.

I'm dying to see Within the Woods. I've heard so much that I'll probably be let down though.

So, basically, I'm not going to buy this DVD for the cover art alone, but if they do include Within the Woods, a new commentary, and/or a documentary, plus it's in THX, I may actually shell out the extra money.

What's the word now on if they are still planning to make it widescreen? I sure hope not, because then it really won't be worth it if it's a cropped picture and has the future version of pan and scan.

I was told that the box has the size of a normal european vhs case. The front is coated with the necronomicon reproduction, but the back is free an looks like a normal super jewel case.
