Favorite film that Barker DIRECTED
Clive Barker has only directed 3 films, but there are several others that are based on his work (i.e. Candyman, Rawhead Rex, etc.). This is for the film that he DIRECTED. I voted for Lord of Illusions. It is a very underrated masterpiece in my opinion. I like it quite a bit more than Hellraiser and Nightbreed.

Tough call
Though I like Hellraiser quite a bit, I went with Lord of Illusions, which is one of my favorite films. (I've only seen Nightbreed once and wasn't super impressed.)
LOI benefits from superior acting, but I think the imagery and the overall creepiness factor is the sign of a well-directed film. |

Had to go with Hellraiser. Lord of Illusions would be my second choice. Scott Bakula gave an excellent performance, the villains were memorable, and the story was top-notch.
Nightbreed was a mixed affair for me. Sure, the creatures were highly imaginative and the story was original. Hell, who can forget Cronenberg's performance. But the two leads were bland and I just couldn't get into it. Maybe the Director's cut will change that opinion.

God Damn
Damn! I'd have to go with Lord of Illusions, with NightBreed closer than half a hair behind it!

Nightbreed was a mixed affair with me too...
I really liked LOI, but I see Hellraiser as Barker's best work. I love the camera angles and the style used through out the film (the blood dropping sequence is a favorite) and the gore effects are classic! I only wish Barker would lend his directing talent to more movies!

I love Nightbreed so it gets my vote.Hellraiser is probably the better overall film though.A bit shocked on the votes Lord Of Illusions has..I know Famke flashes some skin..but it could be Swiss for the holes in that one.

This ones tough because I like all three films. But I have to go with Hellraiser. I remember watching it when I was just a little kid and it freaked the sh*t out of me. Now I make it a habit to watch it every Halloween.

Other than two scenes, Hellraiser is the perfect horror film. Such a fantastic blend of themes! I love it, BUT, for those two scenes which pull it bad from being a true classic. Oh well, it's damn close.

Hellraiser remains one of the few films that I can say truly ever scared the living shit out of me. I saw it in the theater when it was originally released, and that was a treat. I saw it about a year ago at a special midnight screening and it was still great. Definitely one of my top favorite films of all time.

Lord and Nightbreed are both good flicks but nothing beats the cenobites.

Damn! I hate to have to do this, but I voted for Lord of Illusion. I think it's a better film noir/mystery than Hellraiser is a horror film. And I LOVE Hellraiser. But for what Barker set out to accomplish, I feel with LOI he hit closer to the mark.
Didn't like Nightbreed (nor Cabal, for that matter), but I'm fairly certain it's only because I was out-of-my-mind high when I first watched it. I'm now waiting for the DC to re-watch.
