There's Nothing Out There
Boy, you find the strangest stuff for four bucks
![]() I was in a store last weekend, and they had a movie for 4 bucks called "Don"t Scream, Die!" So why not give it a try? Well, I just watched it, and it's a film that does not take itself seriously at all. Lots of stupid one liners, girls in bikinis, and a good number of breast shots. It even has some gore for goodness sakes, with one face melting scene being done quite well actually. Did I mention the slimy green monster the fires lasr beams from its eyes and that looks like a Cronenberg reject? Clearly, the objective here was not to make a serious film, but rather a comedy with a monster in it. I must admit, it had me amused. When I went on IMDB to look the film up, I couldn't find it. So I went back to the disc and went through the trailer, and found it's actualy called "There's Nothing Out There". Anyone know this one? I could review the disc for you, but likely all I have to say is that it's 4:3 and the VHS was probably better ![]() Apparently this has an R1 release for a whopping $18.27 from DDD - unbelievable. It isn't worth that (even with the features) but if you see it cheap....... Last edited by dwatts; 02-14-2004 at 06:37 PM. |

Sadly, I think the price of this one sinks it in R1. I enjoyed it, but even I wouldn't have paid that much.

I think it's a great film. Notice the pre-Scream horror movies guy. It used to be on Cinemax late-night years ago quite often. The film has a rather sizeable fanbase believe it or not. You'll either get what they tried to do with the movie or you'll miss it completely.
I think it was one of the first DVD's I ever bought a few years back, it was nearly impossible to find on VHS. I think I paid about $19 for it new, which isn't too bad. It has enough special features to more than make up for it!

The trailer says, "from 20 year old director..." so that's something I guess
![]() I don't think there's much to "get" here. As I originally said, it just doesn't take itself (or the genre) very seriously. t does have its moments though. The R1 DVD seems to be way better than what i have (4:3 with a HORRID) transfer, but still, it wasn't good enough that I would upgrade for that price. For those into comedy-horror, it's worth a look. |

I love this movie. How can you not love the part where the guy grabs the boom-mic and swings off the balcony?!?
