The Collingswood Story

I have read a couple of good reviews about this low budget independent film including Rhetts well written positive review and i have been looking forward to watching this film for a while. I finally located a copy last weekend and really enjoyed it, this is truly the definition of a hidden gem. The film doesn't really get going until mid way through but the sense of something bad is going to happens grows throughout until you get to the end that is simply creepy. Has anyone else here gave this a try yet i was lucky enough to stroll into a used dvd store that same day and found a copy in great condition for 10 bucks Canadian. Looking around the web i haven't found one major online store that sells it and even the web site simply says coming soon.

One more note, I also believe the film won best independent horror film of 2002.

It's a good little film, Ash, I'm glad you checked it out. Although a good half of it takes place on webcams, the direction of it really made it much more interesting than it could have been. And yeah, that ending is a creeper.

when I checked the website and clicked the "get the DVD" link it said "soon". I registered though. do they send you an email about buying soon after you register?

edit: by the way, how much is it?

I haven't received an email in about 2 months, but every few months they've sent out emails saying there's a special on it "at the moment".. Can't remember for the life of me how much.. maybe $39.99... i remember it being rather expensive

I can't really be much help on where to pick it up, I was sent a review copy. It's certainly an elusive DVD.

Go to http://www.collingswoodstory.com to buy the DVD directly. The price has been lowered to 14.99.

I watched this last night and it's definitely worth seeing for fans of the "less is more" type of horror film. It is a very creepy (if slightly predictable) movie and builds to a pretty intense climax. It is obviously influenced by Blair Witch Project but it is superior on two counts. First the characters are not as annoying and second the film has better pacing and is better thought out.

For those who have seen it I wondered what you thought of the ending? It left me slightly confused.

Has the director done anything since this or is it just a one-hit wonder?

He hasn't directed anything since from the look of it. He did Create and write a mini series that's suppose to be pretty good called Dante's Cove.

Same here. It's $10 ($14.99 w/ tax & shipping) on their website now and I thought what the hell I'll give it a shot.
