Best Buy's TCM Special

i checked in the best buy paper today and they had a pic of the new texas chainsaw massacre 2 disc set for 29.99 and it said above it that if you buy the 2 disc set, you'll get the original on dvd for free. i think that's an awesome deal considering the set is a little expensive

Well, considering I already have the first one, this isn't that big of a deal. But in a way, it is, because all the kids that buy this at Best Buy who have never seen the original and think the re-make is so great ( ) can watch the first one and realize it's greatness....and can see the error of their ways in liking the new one

Well, I just won't fork out $30 for the new film, period. The bonus is nice (especially for those that don't have it) but $30 is $30, and I'd rather not do the transaction at that price.

I look forward to seeing this one on the sales or secondhand rack at some point.

yeah, but the kids of today who thought the remake was great will not appreciate the old one. A few younger friends of mine who loved the remake thought the original was slow and boring. Same with Dawn of the Dead.

I cringe every time I have those conversations.

I think 30 dollars is to high for any dvd let along this movie which is supposed to be bad anyways. I swear dvds should have a set price. It makes no sense why 1 is more expensive than another.

I'm definitely picking up the TCM 2003 DVD. While not as fantastic as the perfect original, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The DVD looks to be an amazing set as well. I obviously already have the original, so I'll just sell the free DVD to my cousin who never knows about these Best Buy deals.

the reason that it is so expensive is that it comes in a metal covered tin case (ala t2 extreme edition) and i dont even see why it is . i have the t2 extreme edition and the metal sleve tore the plastic off the side of the dvd case . i bet it does the same thing with this one

Actually, its just a tin plate, not a case. The casing is a digipak that folds out into a chainsaw.

That's funny, as the original is about 14 minutes shorter than the remake.

Pretty much what I'm doing as well, except my extra copy of the original is going to my brother-in-law.

I'm a HUGE fan of the original, and the remake was suprisingly good IMO.

funny you mention the t2 extreme edition, because i just saw it at best buy going for 13.99 lol so i dont think the metal casing accounts for the price

Is the 2 disc version a limited edition or just a special edition?? If it's limited, then the price makes sense. Anchor Bay used to sell some of their releases in a limited edition tin, and they ran like $25-30. If it's just a SE, I suppose it's just a marketing ploy. Make one edition so bare bones that you HAVE to shell out the cash for the good version.

Here's what I am doing about it on Tuesday:

I'll trade in three cheapo DVD's I bought for 3-5 bucks each. And then get the Texas Chainsaw 2-disc in trade for those three at Hastings Entertainment.
