The Phantasm Series
In the past few days I have rented and seen the whole phantasm series for the first time. I really liked it, even if it got cheesier every sequel. I would like to know if anyone has heard of a 5th phantasm. I know it probably won't be made, but when people are pressed for money, they can think up some weak story. I would also like to know what other people's views on the series are.

The first one is a classic - no doubt (*****)
The second one had a lot of style, the best of the sequels (****) The third one, well, thats when it started to get "funny" (***) The fourth one had some interesting moments (never seen before flashback footage) but the rest? maybe for die-hard fans only (**) _________________________________ ...Love her Skin, dripping with Sin, do it again-Living Dead Girl ...dont lie to yourself ... it gave you pleasure-RZ

I love 'em all. Phantasm 2 is my favorite, but they are all great. And yes, they do tend to get cheesier as it goes along but it never gets really campy like Freddy's Dead or anything. James LeGros was the best Mike!!!

You kiddin'? James Le Gros was the beginning of the '90's teeny boppers IMO.
I think I'm the one person in the world that didn't like P2. I love the first one, but the second one just didn't really do it for me. I liked 3 alright, maybe even a little less than 2. 4 was pretty bad, but still watchable. |

Phantasm
I'm with ya on P2. I mean, it was OK, but it was basically a watered-down, glossed-over rehash of the first one... Three got a little more creative again, but also got, as Hellbilly pointed out, kinda goofy. Cool parts, but not consistent. The same with Four. It was alright... seems to have suffered a LOT from budget issues. Kinda sucked, really, but not without merit. At least shows there can still be a lot of (reasonable) hope for P5.
The original's a damn classic, though. |

Freddy's Dead is cool, dammit!
Am I the only one who likes that movie? I like every one of the Nightmare movies. Yeah half of them were cheesy as balls(testicles, not cheese balls) but still come on, that movies was cool. Plus they pulled off the picture coming alive and the person looking at it and then being in it thing better than the Stendhal Syndrome.

The NOES set will be mine in three days, and I love cheezy (cheesey too) flicks.
But don't diss Stendhal. |

i got the Nightmare-Box and i'm pretty happy with it. the only thing that pissed me off was that part 5 is shown only as the R-Rated version. __________________________________ ...Love her Skin, dripping with Sin, do it again-Living Dead Girl ...dont lie to yourself ... it gave you pleasure-RZ

Oh I wasn't knocking Stendhal, I was just saying I thought that was how Stendhal was gonna look. I realise that Freddy's dead had a bigger budget and all. I wanna buy the box set. I own the Video version of the box set, I got it as a gift a few years ago, before I had a DVD player. But it is pretty pricey. I found a used one in excellent condition at the pawn shop but they still wanted $75 for it. Maybe I'll sell some of my shitty tapes and DVDs and buy it. Anyone want to buy a Habit DVD for $3? I only used it once. What about the Diamond HOuse by the Cemetery?

Not to mention, the deleted scenes from the first Elm Street. It's still a bitchin' set. OK, back on topic. Here's the Hackmaster's rating on the Phantasm series: Phantasm-**** Phantasm II-*** Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead-**1/2 Phantasm IV: Oblivion-** (The hell cop bit was lame.)

There is talk of a Phantasm 5. Reggie Bannister will return as well as A. Micheal Baldwin. Of course Angus Scrimm will be back. But there are a few names that may have a get of you very excited.
For 1 Bruce Campbell is going to be in it. As well as Alice Cooper. You can check out http://www.angelfire.com/scifi/phant.../phantasm.html |

I'm bringnig an old thread back up but....
I didn't see this posted anywhere else. This is "supposedly" the official web site of the 'Phantasm 5' film which is actually known as Phantasm's End, check it out:
http://www.phantasmsend.com/ It has official cast & crew plans & also the plot is somewhat revealed! Sounds like a good finale to a fantastic series (and I like 'em ALL). Long live (or die) the Tall Man!!! |
