Goriest Horror Movies?
What are (in your opinion) the goriest horror films? I'd have to say stuff like Dead Alive (espiecially the uncut version titled Brain Dead) and Premutos. I'll post more when I can think of 'em!

Dead Alive/Brain Dead of course.
Premutos is quite gory. Too bad the R1 DVD sucks ass. Leif Jonker's Darkness is also very gory.

Well, I'm sticking with the same answer I gave in the "Goriest Film Ever" thread. To quote: "The Guinea Pig series. Not only gory, but films like Flower Of Flesh And Blood just totally dispense with a story. No characters whatsoever. Just a woman being beaten, having her finger nails pulled out with pliers, having boiling oil poured on her arms, and her eyeball skewered. And that's only half of it!"
Original thread here I reckon many of the same titles will come up. I'd be interested in gore films made in the last year - anyone know any of those? |

Heh heh. I'm trying to forget that conversation
![]() I wouldn't buy a film for predominant gore. Love to hear of something with a decent story line and incidental gore though. |

The three first FACES OF DEATH.
I love Braindead/Dead Alive, but the effects are so over-the-top they become gory in an Itchy & Scratchy/Happy Tree Friends way. Not that´s a bad thing, of course. |

I'd have to agree with most of you in saying that Evil Dead, Braindead and Premutos are damn gory. Day of the Dead was mentioned and I think that it is one of the better examples of anatomically correct gore. Carpenter's The Thing was fairly gory as well.
Also, I've got to give props to the Dawn and TCM remakes for coming correct with the gore.

Freddy Vs. Jason didn't skimp on the blood/gore, probably one of teh goriest R rated films I can think of.

Premutos has to be pretty high up there, even if most of it is gratuitous and repetitive. Sure it's pretty ballsy to put a body count at the end of your film, but we could probably cut fifteen or twenty minutes of random heads exploding from the end and still get the full effect.
