Offical Friday the 13th Boxset Specs

TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 2004
'Friday the 13th' box set; new 'Resident Evil,' 'Species' SEs

By Peter M. Bracke

Jason Lives - 2:00pm
He's got a face only a mother could love and he wields one very mean machete. His name is Jason Voorhees, and he's the antithesis of Santa Claus: if he finds out you've been naughty instead of nice, he won't just pass over your house for presents, he grab the fireplace poker, stab you twenty times and stomp on your remains. And that's just for starters.

Now, he's finally getting a DVD big enough to hold him. Ready to slash its way to stores in time for Halloween, Friday the 13th: From Crystal Lake to Manhattan - The Ultimate Edition DVD Collection will arrive on October 5th from Paramount Home Entertainment. While fans undoubtedly hoped for uncut, bloodier versions of all eight of the Paramount flicks, the set will include the R-rated cuts of each film (all in anamorphic widescreen, with parts 1 to 5 in Dolby mono, 6 and 8 in 2.0 surround, and only 7 in full blown 5.1) spread two pics apiece across four dual-layer discs. Extras include audio commentaries on Parts 3, 6, 7 and 8, plus the "Killer Extras" bonus disc with five featurettes, trailers for all of the flicks and deleted scenes and censored footage. Paramount has set no retail price, but suggested list will be around $59.95. Check out the press release for the full specs (http://www.dvdfile.com/news/web_wire...aythe13th.html) and click on the box art above for a blowup.

This boxset really's gonna suck. I was expecting so much better. Far from a definitive boxset. Probably gonna buy it though.

I won't be getting it at all. As I said on another thread, I already own my favorites in the series (Parts 1-3) and with the exception of Part 5, I don't really care for any of the others in the series. Unless they happen to rerelease it with all the films uncut and with more extras in an effort to get fans to double dip, I won't be purchasing it.

:O That case looks great. I'll probably get this set even though it's not the best it can be... I guess it really doesn't matter to me, anyways, since I haven't seen any of 1-8 uncut.

It's not the Jason X mask, if you're refering to the robo one.

You'll be able to find it for less than 60 bucks. I don't own any from the series and since they're anamorphic I think I'll be going for it. Paramount's never going to release this shit uncut, it's just not gonna happen.

Not the "robo" mask.

The "regular" Jason mask before he becomes Uber. That is definitely that mask...only BRONZE.

My friend, you have yet to apparently realize that it's a free market, and that beggars can't be choosers. And unfortunately, lately the free market seems to have turned an awful lot of us into beggars.
