Evil Dead 4 and Freddy Vs Jason Vs ASH Greenlit?

Apparently someone talked with Robert Englund who had this to say:

Next up Englund's going to be doing double-duty on a new horror pic and a new mini-series reincarnation of "V", the old series he use to appear in. He seems genuinely excited about it, and I believe they're all rooting that it gets the greenlight to be a later series.

Then....it's Freddy vs.Jason 2. They have the script, and yep, it does include the Ash character from Evil Dead. The same guy, Bruce Campbell, is doing the part. It's been a money situation apparently because one company owns one character whilst another owns the Freddy and Jason characters. everyone wants their piece of the pie apparently, including the actors of course. They've all got their way though apparently and it'll be shot back to back with a new "Evil Dead" movie with Campbell, all part of the deal apparently, there's talk that this might be released first to reinvigorate fans of that series and have the films link in some respect. exciting stuff.

Better they do it now. Like I stated in another thread, Bruce Campbell isn't getting any younger, and he'll have to do some serious toning up for the part. He seems to have packed on some weight since AOD.

EDIT: Another thing, I'm going to be very worried if Raimi isn't involved with ED 4.

...but yeah, i genuinely cant wait, they can remake and make sequals and prequals to every film ever, i will watch them and chances are i will buy them on dvd. i wasn't always the same but as there remaking 'the warriors', ive lost all my film morals.

Agreed. I will only belive it if Bruce Campbell stands in front of me and confirms this to my face..while I watch a double feature of both movies.

Bruce's website hasn't been updated in a looooooong time.

That same answer has been up for at least two years. This news has developed since then and isn't likely to be changed on his website until the deal is 100% finalized...which is only a matter of time.

I have a hard time believing it, but not because Raimi's working on Spidey 3. That won't be out in theaters until 2007.

Man is this a great rumor. I hope there is some truth to this as this would totally kick ass.

Horror is "hot" at the moment -- Dawn of the Dead (Remake), Shaun of the Dead, Freddy vs Jason, 28 Days Later, TCM remake -- so it wouldn't be surprising if existing franchises would appear attractive to investors.

We already have "Land of the Dead" going in front of cameras next month, so hopefully we can get some ED action next.

Actually, there used to be something on the home page debunking the whole "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" thing. The headline was something like "Razor glove?...Check. Machette?...Check. Boomstick?...Probably not." That section has been removed, so it looks like FvJvA could happen. As far as ED4 goes, I think its a longshot but never say never.
