Not I. nothing new in the set (well, anamorphic transfers for 6 and 7). I'm surprised AB didn't release a PC of Halloween 6.

I think ABUK used same discs for Halloween 2 & 3 as in their previous (5 DVD) Halloween set.
If they did, that box is for suckers only. Picture quality in H2 is just terrible. H3 is in wrong aspect ratio 1.85 and it's heavily cut. I might be wrong since I haven't seen this new 8 disc set, but I did buy the first set and I'm still pissed off. edit: I checked from ABUK forum and the new box includes same fucked up H2 & H3 discs. I think Xploited's Tony Simonelli doesn't know about the cut H3 of this set because he's an honest guy and usually tells if the version is cut at his site. ANCHOR BAY UK seems to have an awful lot of problems with the sets they put out.The recent AMICUS box set by them listed one film as widescreen(it was full frame) cut the last few seconds out of another film and had several other problems. The dvds won't even stay secure in the packaging.I'm wary of getting stuff from them.

I just don't care about about since I already have the R1 DVD's. Commentaries for 2 & 3 might be nice, but I'd rather hear director's commentaries. Not enough for me to spend $90 on regardless.
I have no desire to own Resurrection either...biggest pile of crap in the series.

I'd do some research first. The ABUK site does not indicate that Part 6 is anamorphic. The box set is just a collection of the existing DVDs and while the region 2 H20 discs were 16x9, HALLOWEEN 6 was never released anywhere anamorphic.
Even ABUK's site screws up like this. MADMAN's region 2 is listed as anamorphic and it is not. |

I took couple of screencomparisons between Anchor Bay UK and Universal R1 versions of Halloween II.
ABUK version looks much worse on TV, but even with these little frames you can see how shitty version it is. Last edited by Joni Backman; 10-13-2004 at 02:59 PM. |

And here's comparisons between Halloween III ABUK and Universal R1.
Now picture quality is little better (than in H2 ABUK I mean) but it's badly cropped (and cut). |

Am I the only one who didn't like any of the Halloweens after the third?

Not me. Unlike Friday the 13th (Got that 8 film boxset for $58 last week), the Halloween films aren't as entertaining to me. I enjoy the first three, but 3 out of 8 is not very good, especially when the 3 I want together come to less than $40.

I don't completely hate the series after 3 and will watch em now and then when nothing else is on and I'm too lazy to pop in a dvd. I won't bother owning them on dvd though since I don't like em that much.
Maybe if I find some in a dollar bin I might grab em (that's the only reason I own fear dot com), but the dollar bin usually doesn't exist.

Not me. I only loved the first two Halloween's and Halloween 4. Parts 5 and 6 were just o.k. to say the least and 3 and 8 were DREADFUL!!!!! H20 I could have highly enjoyed if it didn't make it appear parts 4,5 and 6 never happened. I have the ultimate Halloween I want (the 2 disc set) I only hope for S.E. on part 2 and I'm all set.
