I went last night. Same as usual, good vendors and usual signing crowd.
Got Tom Savini to sign a Dawn of the Dead DVD and picked up some Godzilla DVDs. If anyone is going, the one hour preshow pass is worth every penny. |

It was pretty awful. Way overcrowded. Packed to the gills. Not enough good dealers. Loads of bootlegs of things already available. If you like toys, the kind you can get at most comic shops, they had plenty. The only positive thing was getting to see some cool cats. But the lines to see the celebs was insane. Imagine waiting 3 hours to see Laverne & Shirley. Now that is frightening.

Well, that's Chiller. You gotta get in early and also get there even earlier. My buddy and I got there around 4, waited on a line (which we cut by accident. some dude all dressed up with a megaphone was moving people around.) til 5, got in and was just about done with everything we wanted at 6:30. We tried hitting the 2nd tent for Gunner Hanson's autograph b.c we didn't see him the 1st time around and the line was horrible. As we were walking away, I overheard Tom Savini's wife saying something and a bunch of groupie nerds (dealers?) were talking to her. We coat tailed on her and her group and got in the side enterence, was pretty cluch. By 7 or so we were gone. Way too packed inside.
I kinda wish there was more dealers though. |

I went yesterday....I have some pics that I'll post probably tomorrow once they're off my camera. All in all I thought it was cool.....but yes some of the waiting lines were ridiculous....Linda Blair left early and I didnt get to see her, which pissed me off. However, I got to meet Ernie Hudson, Frank Vincent, Patricia Tallman, Gunnar Hansen, Kane Hodder, Alex Vincent (andy in child's play), Karen Gorney (stephanie in saturday night fever) and others.....they were all really cool and down to earth. Believe it or not, prob the biggest highlight for me was meeting Frank Vincent. He's not a huge star or anything but I love Goodfellas, Casino, Witness to the Mob, etc...he fits his parts so well. He handed me his biz card and told me to check out his website, so if anyone else wants to take a look, its http://www.frankvincent.com
I'll post my pics as soon as they get transferred to the computer Joker |

i was there on Friday night--and the crowds weren't as bad...
I picked up a Dawn of the DEad zip up hooded sweatshirt and the following DVD's Manson family Tale of two sisters Four Flies DVDR (I gave in since no release is in sight and my vhs copy looks like crap) Burning DVDR Nightmare City (never saw it and the disc was $4) dougls Bucks family portrait... T really wanted to get the whole Last House autograph set--I started with David Hess and excitedlt put my DVD down in foront of him--he asked for $20 which I wasn't expecting, and then each cast member wanted the same!!!! I stopped at David Hess! |

Is this charging for autographs the new thing at the Chiller conventions that are co-sponsored by Fangoria as well? I went to the last Fango convention two years ago in Brooklyn that was run by Creation, and, although it certainly had its problems (not enough dealers by far, "gold circle" overpriced tickets that gave you pretty much nothing more than the regular seats, and a subpar crowd), they did make sure to have everyone that was on the panels signing for free after they spoke. I picked up autographs and got to talk with H.G. Lewis (best guest of the whole convention by far), Thomas Jane, the whole cast and director, producers of Final Destination2, Ellie Cornell, Jeffery Combs, and Debbie Rochon (who did charge $20, but that included the DVD that she signed for me). I had a great time, but this Chiller con sounds like a bit of a ripoff if you have to pay for all of the autos and the lines are too long to get most of them anyway!

The people we went up to signed for free, you only paid for their picture. Odd those others charged for just signing.
