I have been unable to get into this one at all - and that's with the BU disc. I keep trying again.... and again...and again. A remake? Well, I don't mind in this case, since I can't understand the appeal of the first.

One of Romero's best films.... surely to be remade as one of the most forgettable films of the year.

I actually like these remakes...since alot of these classics were made before my time I read about them before I saw them and I think it may have tainted my first viewings but with a remake (or re-imagining) you start fresh on the story...
...and in my case since I don't watch any of the 'new' or 'hot' shows of the day most of these actors are unknowns to me |

To be honest, Romero is NOT a good director.........the Dead films are his 'niche'. The Crazies is very uneven, but strap in and give it a go. |

I thought The Crazies was alright, but overrated. A remake could be good, but I guess we'll see...

I think he was good, but has deteriorated over time. His best movie is still his first. I agree with those who say he hasn't made a really good film in 20 years or so.
As for THE CRAZIES, it was so similar to NOTLD that I don't really care that much about its being remade--it was a rehash of earlier work to begin with. |

Some of Romero's best films are his non Dead ones like Knightriders and Martin.

I'm a big fan of The Crazies, and I can definately see the appeal and potential of a remake. Interested to find out more about it.

KNIGHTRIDERS and/or CREEPSHOW were probably his last really good films. MARTIN has not stood up very well for me at all.

You all know how I feel about Romero. I agree with the statement that he's not a very good Director. Creepshow is really poor, imo. Bruiser etc. Still, we've talked about thsi before. Without a doubt, the Dead films are the only compelling ones he makes, imo.
Still, I am up for a remake of Crazies. |

Jeez, never knew there was so much indifference toward's Romero's non-Dead films... I think most of them are brilliant, and I haven't seen him make a mediocre film yet (although I didn't see THE DARK HALF and BRUISER yet). I mean, MARTIN is his best film, CREEPSHOW is a classic anthology, THE CRAZIES if another good one... I wouldn't hesitate to call him one of the genre's greatest directors.
