BOLD = First time viewing

January

1st - Zombie Death House - Enjoyed the cheese. "DONT TOUCH MY TWINKIES!" ruled.
1st - Paul McCartney: Live at the Cavern Club - Paul, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Ian Paice (Deep Purple) jammin' to some classic 50's & 60's rock and roll. Fun!

2nd - Inferno - Great flick. Mmm... pretty Argento colors... Not turning my back on my cat for a while.

3rd - Leprechaun - Stupid yet comical...
3rd - The Stuff - Ridiculous, charming, funny, loved it. "WHERE'S THE STUFF???" LOL

4th - Fight For Your Life - Should I feel bad for loving this? The dog stole the show. GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH!
4th - London Rock & Roll Show - Great rock & roll revival concert from London in 1972 featuring Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry as well as a couple other lesser known acts from that era. Screaming Lord Sutch being carried out in a coffin before starting his act was pretty sweet!
4th - Wrestlings Classic SuperHeroes Vol. 1 - Old school wrestling matches from the 50s and 60s. Cool to see the guys that started it all like Lou Thesz, Antonino Rocca, Dick the Bruiser, Haystacks Calhoun, and more. Oh yeah... and MIDGETS!

7th - Phenomena - Awesome Argento flick. Although I don't know what was more cute... Jennifer Connelly or the chimpanzee!

10th - Young Tiger - 70's chop socky... actually set in the 70's! Butterfly collars and half-open shirts galore! Awesome soundtrack too, 70's muzak versions of Zep's "Immigrant Song," Janis Joplin's "Move Over," Santana's "Soul Sacrifice," and I think I heard an Allman Brothers tune also!

11th - Mountaintop Motel Massacre - Ugh. Why couldn't I fall asleep during this?
11th - The Initiation - Not too bad.... Zuniga was a cutie!

14th - Enter the Invincible Hero - Another chop socky. A hunch back that kicks people asses with his hump, a bald kung fu master with a magical belly button, and Dragon Lee, my favorite Bruce Lee clone! What more could you ask for??

16th - The Who: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 - A true testament to rock and roll, documenting the most energetic rock act of the late 60's early 70's. Amazing.

18th - She-Devils On Wheels - My introduction to HG Lewis. Hilarity refined. Loved the theme song. Karen & Honey Pot were totally hotties.

22nd - G.I. Joe Season 1 Part 1 - Been watching this off & on for a couple months and finally finished it. Gotta love reliving the childhood! Time to open part 2!!!!!!

23rd - Anchorman - Pretty damn funny. Jack Black's cameo was gold.

24th - Zombi 3 - Ehh.... watchable. Didn't hate it. The head scientist guy was a great over-actor though!

26th - Fatal Needles vs. Fatal Fists - A pretty decent chop-socky. The evil master that incapacitated his opponents by throwing accupuncture darts into their pressure points from long distances RULED!

27th - Metallica: Some Kind of Monster - I haven't been much of a Metallica fan for a long time now, but I really enjoyed this. Good documentary and a good inside look on the band.
27th - Cutthroats Nine - Good and gory Euro-Western.

February

3rd - Knockabout - Great Sammo Hung chop-socky. Has my fave kung-fu-ster, Leung Kar Yan ("Beardy"), plus Yuen Biao, and Sammo of course. Awesome legwork by Yuen Biao, and Sammo proves again that he's the worlds fastest and most agile fatso.

4th - City of the Living Dead - Loved it. Awesome gore. One of my favorite Fulci's so far. Thumbs up for head drilling and gut puking! The end was a tad strange though.

8th - Seven Steps of Kung Fu - Wow. One of the best chop-sockys I've seen, and I've seen a ton. Killer fights, great training scenes, some chick-fu, awesome villans. It was all there! A great blind buy!

9th - Assault On Precinct 13 (1976) - Loved it. Great action. Suspenseful, and the music helped with that. Got absorbed in the 3 main characters. The ice cream scene was even a little shocking.

14th - Fist of Fury (AKA The Chinese Connection) - Earlier Bruce Lee flick. Pretty good, but no Enter the Dragon!

19th - Deranged - Good adaptation of the Ed Gein story. That guy that played Ezra Cobb was awesome in that role. Sally was hot too!

20th - Motel Hell - Loved it. It was funny, and depraved at the same time. A pleasant mix of humor and horror.

22nd - Alien Dead - Entertaining in that total piece of crap way. Leave it to Fred Olen Ray.

24th - The Old Grey Whistle Test - Absolutely required viewing if you love classic music. Old BBC television music performances. Some stand-outs for me include... Curtis Mayfield, Rory Gallagher, Edgar Winter, Little Feat, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, The Police, and Iggy Pop.

27th - Ninja: The Final Duel - Hilarious over the top ninja/chop socky! Naked chick battling ninjas, ninja master with an awesome laugh... and... WATER SPIDER ASSAULT UNIT.

March

2nd - Man From Deep River - I enjoyed this one. I guess it kind of started the cannibal movie trend of the 70's... although there's not really much cannibalism. The shocks in this come mainly from the animal slayings. Mainly a mongoose/cobra fight (man those mongoose are scary) and the cutting of a goat's throat that was particularly nasty. But seeing Me Me Lay (what a fitting name) naked through most of the movie makes you forget about that other stuff!

5th - Iron Fisted Monk - More Sammo Hung kung-fu goodness. Some killer fight choreography from the Fat Dragon.

6th - The Pit - Some enjoyable cheese. Kind of reminded me of The Stuff in a way... The kid star did a great job at being a perverted whiny bastard. Oh yeah... LIBRARIAN TITS!

7th - Saw - Kept my interest through, but some very horrible acting and really dumb lines.

8th - Crippled Avengers (AKA Return of the Five Deadly Venoms) - Awesome acrobatic kung fu from the Venoms. Some great training sequences. The final fight seemed to fall a little flat though, but still a killer movie overall.

9th & 10th - Venom of the Ninja - A 6 part chop-socky/ninja mini-series. Good wacky ninja action.

Been a busy couple weeks... back to the movies!

28th - Abbot White - Strange chop socky... somewhat hard to follow due to the fact that the English dubbed voices were done by chinese people with very thick accents... The evil abbot's detachable arm that impaled the one guy was awesome though.

29th - Magnificent Butcher - Fucking AMAZING Sammo Hung chop socky directed by Yuen Woo Ping. The fight coordination was also done by Yuen Woo Ping & Sammo. Awesome fights, a run of the mill vengeance story that still managed to be interesting. A drunken master, tons of interesting fighting styles, some slapstick but not overdone. A classic. Watch it.

30th - The Deadly Spawn - Fun campy horror. Great FX for it's time. I really enojoyed the movie, and the DVD extras were great also.

April

5th - The Prodigal Son - Another Sammo Hung/Yuen Biao chop socky. I CANNOT get enough of these. This is the best yet, and I didn't think the others could be beat. Not as much Sammo in this one, but tons of Yuen Biao and Lam Ching-ying. Some killer combat, hard hits, and great slow-mo shots. If you have any interest in kung fu, I suggest you pick up these 20th Century Fox/Fortune Star discs. EXCELLENT widescreen prints and original cantonese sound in 5.1 and DTS (also english, but watching in the original language really enhances the experience) makes these DVDs a super value for the price, which ranges from $6.99 at Best Buy to $9.99 at FYE.

6th - Top Secret - Fun... love these old comedies like this, Naked Gun, Airplane!, and Kentucky Fried Movie...

10th - Scanners - Interesting story for sure... worth seeing for the "head" alone. I lost count of how many times I slo-mo'd that beyotch!

12th - Slice of Death - Enjoyable Shaw Bros. kung fu flick. I always enjoy these destroy/rebuild Shaolin movies. Stars David Chiang whose kung-fu was never spectacular, but this movie is still good thanks to those beautiful Shaw Bros. sets, and Lo Lieh as PAI MEI!

15th - Mr. Vampire - Great chinese action/kung fu/horror/comedy. Gotta love those hopping vampires!

17th - Ring 2 - More like Ring BLEW. Boring. Lame. Won't waste anymore time on it.

17th - Amityville Horror (2005) - I liked it. I thought it was pretty good. I thought Ryan Reynolds was pretty good. Maybe it's because I had to sit through Ring 2 first. Probably. "Jodie" should have definitely been something better than the cliche 'freaky little ghost girl' though.

18th - Mangiati Vivi (Eaten Alive) - I enjoy Jungle/Cannibal flicks. So naturally I liked this. Respectable titty, bush, and animal death counts. A couple scenes taken right out of Man From Deep River in there.... also recognized the snake eating monkey from Mountain of the Cannibal God. That's nature. I'm getting hungry.....

19th - 30th (haven't updated in a while... not sure which movie was which date)

Napoleon Dynamite - Hey, I really liked it.

Fritz the Cat - Very very cool, may be dated, but I love 'period pieces' like this.

Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat - Honestly I liked this better than the first one.

I Drink Your Blood - Satanist hippies are fucking awesome. This movie is fucking awesome. Campy laughs, mega cheese, gore, some acting stiffer than betterdan in a goat pen.... It's all there, watch it.

May

3rd - Seven Promises - Decent Meng Fei kung fu flick. Some awesome 'spaghetti western' sounding dubbing. One of those endings you just have to laugh at too.

5th - Burnt Offerings - Decent haunted house type flick... that chauffer dude was creepy. Bette Davis was great. The ending rocked. I bet Oliver Reed had a great time beating the shit out of his kid in the swimming pool. I would have.

1/20 - Immortal Beloved - *****

Oldman is one fantastic actor. Whether it be here or in his other films such as Romeo Is Bleeding, the man is in total command onscreen. Immortal Beloved is a powerful film that will leave you craving for more Beethoven well after the final credits roll off screen. This film holds up well after multiple viewings.

1/21 - Suspected Death Of A Minor - ****1/2

Seldom seen film from Martino. This film gets better with each viewing. A DVD release of this amazing Giallo is sorely needed.

1/21 - Orgasmo - *****

Talk about amazing Lenzi films. Lenzi, right behind Fulci, is my second favorite Euro Cult Director. This film shows fans of European Cult Cinema why this genre of films are so amazing. Baker and supporting cast all give excellent performances and Lenzi provides tight direction. Another classic that cries out for proper DVD treatment.

1/22 - Slugs - *** Great cheesy fun.

Spider-man the animated serie season 3: Sins of the Father
Spider-man the animated serie season 4: Partners in Danger
2: Hide and Seek * I guess I'm hard, but I tried to watch this on the plane (!), and could not get half through it...

27: Freddy vs Jason **** Watch this with one eye while packing - a good way to pass the time
27: Boogeyman * Was maybe ** or even ***, until that stupid and boring ending, which ruined a already medium-low movie

21: Spawn 2 **** Well it's like the same movie that just keep going, which is all right for me.
22: Scanners ** Yes - first time seeing this. Never was into Scanners (saw scanner cop once I think). Ok movie, great finale, horrid acting from the Vale guy
22: Spawn 3 **** The best of the 3, but now I'd like to see the rest of it - does it exists?
23: Team America: World Police *** Funny, but not that much. That sex scene is hilarious
23: Immortel (Ad Vitam) ***** I just love the look of the movie, a real good surreal sci-fi imo, even if the plot is a bit thin...
24: The Exorcist of Emily Rose **** It's good to see something different in theaters these days - not WB horror
26: Hellraiser II **** Might be better than the first one - I was sure I had seen it, but hey, what do you know! I know I saw some hellraiser when I was younger
30: Ring Two * the first 20 min made me wonder why everyone bashed this movie, and then I understood... so boring. Must say I liked the scene in the well, and that's about it.

October
1: Enemy Mine **** Good and different sci-fi

11: City of the living dead **** I don't like disappearing ghost-type zombies
13: The House by the Cemetary ***** Excellent movie, quite creepy at some points, and funny at others (the bat, for instance). The kid's voice is annoying...

28: Shallow Ground *** Much better than what I expected from the dvd case
29: Phantasm II ** It seems I can't get into the phantasm serie
29: Strangeland *** I would consider this more suspense than horror

30: Hellraiser Inferno ** Why is this hellraiser again?
31: Graveyard shift o Just plain boring

2: The Ring **** I really like that movie
6: Hellraiser: Hellseeker *** A good entry in the serie, even if it's a huge ripoff Jacob's Ladder - I was expecting much worse after seeing Inferno.
7: Les Rois Maudits: Les Poisons de la Couronne **** Very good historic drama, without all the bells and whistles we usually see these day
11: Sin City **** Not what I expected, but a very good and impressive movie

12: The Jacket ****
15: MoH: Dream in the Witch-House **** wow, this must be the best tv show ever

18: The Terminator *** Was too tired and sleepy to enjoy it much...

26: Oldboy *** Lot less violent than what I expected
28: Les rois maudits: La louve de France ** The less interesting, and more complicated, part of the series
29: MoH: The Dance of the Dead *** The least good since the beginning I think
30: Les rois maudits: le lys et le lion ****

December
8: Raw Force * Cheezefest - I guess it would have been funnier with beer...
8: MoH: Jenifer ***** Wow!
10: The Green Mile **** on tv

13: Lord of Illusions ***
16: In the Mouth of Madness ***** One of my favorite

New here, but thought I'd join

March
3/12 - Contamination (1980) DVD *** - I always crack up during the scene where Colonel Holmes is locked in the bathroom and keeps screaming, "Help! There's an Egg!." Also, I think this is one of Goblin's best soundtracks.
3/13 - Martin (1977) DVD **** - just picked up the new widescreen transfer to replace my old vhs version. Fantastic film.
3/14 - I Heart Hucklebees (2004) DVD **** - Not quite the existential/surreal film I had hoped for, but not bad for a hollywood bastardized Louis Brunel wannabee.
3/14 - Silent Night Deadly Night 2(1984) DVD ** - 75% footage from the original.
3/20 - Burial Ground ***
3/25 - Night Of The Creeps - **** - I want this out on dvd! damn it
April
4/1 - Sin City - **** - I want to give it 5 stars, but the Bruce Willis story was not on par with the quality of the rest of the film.
4/2 - Monster Club DVD- *** - I particularly enjoyed the third story, fun film

Demons ****
Awesome effects and gore, an entertaining and fast-paced story, and some likeable characters. The only thing dragging it down imo is the soundtrack which consists of a bunch of 80s rock songs. Love the katana wielding motorcycle riding hero!

Troll 2 *****
I really liked the effects in this as well. The character and story are above reproach because they are so terrible. But this movie is so fun to watch and there are plenty of great moments.

Troll **
Very average, almost boring. But well done I guess, for a children's horror movie.

House ***
Some awesome monsters and a pretty good story. The main character was very likeable. The only thing dragging it down was the forced humor. And the lack of gore I guess. Oh, the ending was lousy and screamed 1980s action/thriller.

House II ***
Definitely goofier than House I but some of the humor works well and I had a good time. I like it as much as the prequel but for different reasons.

Audition *****
Wow, what a movie. I'm looking forward to the Region 1 release. I liked the characters, the movie was shot very well and looked beautiful. No complaints about this one at all.

1990: Bronx Warriors *****
Woah! I was blown away by this one. I seriously was not expecting this to be as good as it is. There are so many crazy moments in this movie (what's up with that drummer?), but beyond those it also is just very well done.

The Blade *****
A crucial remake of the One-Armed Swordsman filmed in an imaginary universe where everyone is China is an insane hobo. I tried to reenact the fights displayed in this movie but I just ended up getting dizzy and throwing up in the fish tank. Not only does the One Armed Swordsman not throw up in the fish tank, he kills all of the Mongols by himself with one arm in the rain and they are on HORSES. If you are sick of Chinese period movies going on and on and on about how awesome imperial government is and how this guy's kung fu is honorable but that guy's kung fu is not, you owe it to yourself to watch this movie somehow.

Battle Royale *****
Awesome movie. It was so good I ran out an bought the novel (though I haven't read it yet). I've watched this several times and it just gets better and better.

Battle Royale II
Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Unfathomably bad.
